Greetings!
While Source Point Training offers several personal and professional development trainings, workshops and corporate retreats, a large part of who we are is being coaches in the world. And a large part of our community and fans are also coaches. In the past year, there has been a good deal of change within the International Coach Federation (ICF), the governing body for the coaching profession. Below we share with you how The Source Institute, the coach training division of Source Point Training, has and will continue to align with the ICF and our efforts in supporting the coaching profession.

The Source Institute is the home of Source Point Trainings coach training/certification programs. These include:
We have always been committed to providing our students with the highest caliber of coach training education, based on an ontological model and with a strong experiential component. Our coach training programs are described as rigorous, in-depth and beyond comprehensive. We are proud that all of our trainings, including our Leadership Source training, have ICF approved CCEs associated with them.
While it has been in the making for a few years, ICF has now completed the implementation of new/adjusted requirements for coaches to:
- Be Members of the ICF
- Become credentialed with ICF
As of April 1, 2013, all members (new and renewing) must have completed 60 hours of coach training. Specifically, this is identified as 60 CCEs in the ICF Core Competencies of coaching skills.
Survey Support Consumers Looking for Certified/Credentialed Coaches
 The new ICF Membership guidelines also align with their credentialing requirements for number of training hours needed to become an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) with ICF. As the coaching profession continues to grow, now more than ever, individuals and organizations looking to hire a coach are becoming well educated in the importance of well-trained certified/credentialed coaches. And professional coaches are responding. In their 2012 Survey, ICF reported that in 2006 only 19% of active coaches were credentialed and that percentage has now increased to 33%. Their survey goes on to show 3 primary reasons why professional coaches become an ICF credentialed coach:
- Higher Than Average Annual Income
- Increased Recommendations & Client Satisfaction
- Clients Want Credentialed Coaches (84% of adult consumers according to the 2010 ICF Global Consumer Awareness Study)
Coaches who complete our Fundamentals and Mastery of Performance Coaching meet and exceed the requirements for both ICF Membership and the ACC Credential in the area of core competency CCEs with a total of 88.75 Core Competency CCEs.
ICF credentials require renewal every 3 years with a minimum of 40 CCEs. Source Point Training offers credentialed coaches several options to assist them in meeting this requirement:
- Mastery of Performance Coaching - 31 CCEs
- Certified Relationship Coach Training - 56.5 CCEs
- Leadership Source - 20 CCEs
- Certified/Credentialed coaches can earn these CCEs in two ways - attending the training or being a faculty coach for the training
