With the New Year comes renewed resolve to have things be "better", less stress, more time, life balance, better health, more confidence, better relationships and the always constant to keep up. Source Point Training figured out years ago that people improve and achieve their goals when they have a committed partner. Over 9 years ago, we designed and launched Leadership Source, a training that did not just give skills and tools, but gave each person their very own coach to work on their very own goals. We realized that when people attend a training that has real benefits for them - they will learn and apply tools for success.
Through the years, we have celebrated graduates of our Leadership Source training by seeing people get promoted, manage larger projects and teams and experience real confidence in knowing they have the skills to be successful. We have heard their stories of being recognized and celebrated for their accomplishments and we are happy to have been in partnership with them in ahcieving these goals.

Our next Leadership Source training begins March 7 and 8 in Las Vegas where you will take on 10 weeks of powerful leadership coaching to achieve YOUR goals. You bring your goals and we will bring the coaches and the leadership tools to assure your success.

Cal Newport, a professor at Georgetown University, recently shared in the Wall Street Journal that success requires more than just showing up. True standouts in an organization develop new skills to improve and that takes real commitment. We all reach plateaus where it can be comfortable, but in today's rapidly changing world in order to stay in the game you must be willing to invent a new game for yourself.
Source Point Leadership Coaches understand how to work with people over a 10 week coaching period to expand comfort zones - get out of the box - and take on challenges. When working with a Leadership Coach, you have the confidence of someone who will not let you fail - and will challenge you to go to the edge and take risks in order to learn new skills and behaviors.
Here are the top 3 reason why having a coach can benefit you:
- A coach allows leaders to reflect about their decisions, and about themselves. A great many coaches used the term 'awareness' in describing the benefits of coaching.
- Most of us usually avoid difficult truths. Coaching brings reality front and center. As one coach put it: "People don't always have someone to trust and tell the truth about where they need development."
- People don't see themselves as others see them. A coach can guide a client to find replacements for behaviors that's aren't working. As leaders themselves make changes, they can help their organizations deal with change more effectively.
2013 Tip for Success
Re-do Your TO-Do List - If all you do is make a list of things you need to finish, chances are they will remain unfinished a long time. One of the pitfalls in making a to-do list is lack of specifics. There is no real accountability. When you make a list, identify the specific action you will take and by when you will take it. Most lists do not allow for the amount of time required. Identify what will be done and by when. Another pitfall is not identifying the resources required to complete your to-do. Who else will need to be involved or aligned with the outcome? Many times our lists require others' participation. Have you thought about who will need to be involved or support you in completing your list? What other resource besides time will you need?
Taking time to plan many times is the biggest part of completing our to-do list. This type of planning trains your brain to think more proactively so that you can be prepared to adjust if necessary.
Learn to Communicate Productively. Most people talk about productivity but do not speak productively. When making agreements with others - be clear about what you want, when you want it and under what conditions. When we are unclear, it is impossible for people to participate with us with full partnership. Learn to make requests of others in a way that is specific and clear. Be sure to have another person's full attention and give them your full attention. Multitasking does not generate the strongest connection when interacting with others in spite of what we might make up about it.
