It's the most wonderful time of the year or so the song Andy Williams made popular back in 1963 goes. It is the season for decorations, festive music, gift giving, and the gathering of family and friends. But is it the most wonderful time of the year for everyone?

Holidays normally hold those nostalgic memories of days gone by and we are reminded of loved ones long past and thoughts of the good ole days. But for some, the here and now comes crashing back into view and this time of year can be a most difficult time of the year.

It is our prayer that this will be a joyous time for everyone as we recall the greatest gift of all, the entrance of God into our world as a human being. If we ever wonder how the God of the universe could understand the circumstances that we are going through, we can rest assured that He does understand. We are reminded of the impact that Jesus made in our world through the old poem, One Solitary Life.

He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in still another village where he worked in a carpenter shop until he was thirty. Then for three years He was an itinerant preacher. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family or owned a house. He didn't go to college. He never visited a big city. He never traveled two hundred miles from the place where he was born. He did none of the things one usually associates with greatness. He had no credentials but himself.

He was only thirty-three when the tide of public opinion turned against him. His friends ran away. He was turned over to his enemies and went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While he was dying, His executioners gambled for his clothing, the only property he had on Earth. When he was dead, He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.

Twenty centuries have come and gone, and today He is the central figure of the human race, and the leader of mankind's progress. All the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever sat, all the kings that ever reigned put together have not affected the life of man on Earth as that one solitary figure.

During this holiday season, will you determine to make an impact on someone through your kindness and goodness you have inherited as a child of God? Reach out and make a difference in someone's life by sharing the impact that Jesus has made in you!
Sing-it-Yourself Messiah
Make plans to join conductor Craig Singleton and full orchestra for the Sing-it-Yourself Messiah on campus at Dominican on Friday, Dec 6th, at 7 pm in Angelico Hall. If you want to sing and need music, see Beth before Friday.
Ladies Christmas Teas
women
TBC women will meet in several homes across the county on Saturday, Dec 7, for the annual Ladies Christmas Teas. We hope you are signed up because this always proves to be a holiday blessing. Thanks to all the hostesses who have opened their homes and to everyone that will participate.
Christmas Music Festival
kids xmas
Our children will present an Out-of-the-Box Christmas on Sunday night, Dec 8th at 5 pm. This TBC holiday tradition will once again warm our hearts as we hear the Christmas story from our kids. Make plans to join us and bring a friend to this holiday favorite.
Community Christmas Musical
Prince of Peace--Lord of All is the theme of this year's community Christmas musical as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Join us at either 4 pm or 6 pm as our adult choir is accompanied by our guest orchestra. We will have a special Christmas reception following the 6 pm performance. As our gift to the Southern Marin community, we hope you will join us in inviting your friends and neighbors.
Christmas Eve at TBC
The TBC family will gather on Christmas Eve to honor the birth of our Lord Jesus. At 5 pm, we will have a family friendly interactive service especially for families with younger children. Then at 7 pm, we will share in our traditional family candlelight service. May you experience the greatest gift of all this Christmas season.
Lottie Moon Christmas Offering
lottie
We have heard from a variety of missionaries including a couple looking toward appointment to a recently retired veteran with over 30 years on the field. We have heard the passion of their hearts and learned again how little Lottie Moon became a giant among Southern Baptists as she encouraged a denomination to support missions overseas. We have raised over $5000 of our $20,000 goal for this year's offering toward the national goal of $175 million. 100% of this offering goes overseas to support our missionary families. We hope you will prayerfully determine your gift to support our missions family.
Youth & Other Miscellaneous Youth Stuff
The 2013 Turkey Bowl crowned Stephen Lee (159) & Erin McLennon (124) as bowling king & bowling queen for rolling the highest scores of the evening. There were nearly 50 people in attendance and almost everyone looked a little foolish at some point amidst all the fun. Fellowship and good friends are among the many things that we are thankful for this year. The Youth Christmas party will be on Dec 20 and you must stay tuned for upcoming details.
Operation Christmas Child Boxes
TBC joined hands with Samaritan's Purse this season to put together Operation Christmas Child boxes that will be shipped to boys and girls all over the world for Christmas. We hoped to fill 50 boxes, but you responded by filling 73 boxes. Thanks for your generous provision that will bring a measure of joy into the life of a boy or girl somewhere on our planet. Also, a big thanks to Laura Reynolds and Susan Butler for heading up this effort.
Special Offering for a Special Friend
Several weeks ago, the Wednesday night prayer meeting hosted a new friend from South Asia. We heard the testimony from the person who inspired the writing of The Camel, the book that describes the bridge for sharing Jesus in a Muslim context using the Qur'an. In the midst of hearing Abdul's dynamic testimony, we learned about one of the first church planting movements in the Islamic world. We heard about Abdul's recent imprisonment on charges that were later learned to be false. During his seven weeks of incarceration, his land was raided and all of his cattle were stolen along with his fish farm. These were the primary support systems for the church planting and ministry training in Abdul's country. We also learned that during his seven weeks in prison, over 150 people came to faith in Christ and several people were healed from their illnesses.

TBC decided to take an offering to help Abdul replace these ministry support ventures. Instead of interrupting the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering season, we have decided to focus on Abdul's need during the month of January. If you would like to participate in this special offering, you can make your check out to TBC and mark Abdul's Ministry in the memo line.

Word of Encouragement
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness for that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

Wisdom

If Jesus could have accomplished all He came to do without fasting, why would He fast? The Son of God fasted because He knew there were supernatural things that could be released only that way. How much more should fasting be a common practice in our lives?
