The Tiburon Tidings eNewsletter
|
|
Greetings!
With a busy summer upon us, this edition of the Tidings will serve for both the months of June and July. With all the busyness, we hope you will take time to enjoy God and his wonderful creation this summer. Have some fun as you take in a Giants or A's game. They are both playing well in their respective leagues.
Get involved in a mission project or two. There are some options through the church, but you can also be a missionary to your own neighborhood. As you reach out and touch lives around you, make sure they know the true reason behind your kindness.
As our graduating students celebrate the closing of one chapter of their lives, we all look to the next as some continue their education while others search for jobs. We offer our congratulations, blessings and prayers to each graduate and their family on their incredible accomplishment.
Our high school graduates include Maureen McLennon heading north to the University of Washington in Seattle and Danny Lee heading to Nashville to attend Vanderbilt University. College graduates include Tina Bailey from Santa Rosa Jr College, Brian Rehkopf from the University of Colorado and Erin McLennon receiving her master's degree from San Francisco State University. Seminary graduates include Janet Gudoy heading to San Jose, Sarah Keller heading to New Mexico, James Lanford heading to Texas, and Carlena Speed serving as our Minister of Music for the summer.
It is our prayer that this will be the best summer of your life! |

TLC To Visit Charlie Brown & Snoopy
The Tuesday Lunch Club will make a trip to Santa Rosa on Thursday, June 13th, to visit the Charles M. Shultz Museum. Everyone has loved Peanuts for decades. From his first published drawing in 1937 to his first paneled cartoon in 1947 to his first Peanuts strip in 1950, you can experience the magic of Charles Schultz. Cost for those 62 and over is just $5. See Beth Fort or Judy Good for more details and make plans to join the group for a fun day. Hey, this is not limited to senior adults. Bring the whole family and join us!

The Dubai Team Prepares for Oasis
As the TBC team joins a larger team of 60 volunteers from Florida to serve the Oasis meeting, every member of TBC becomes a vital member of the support team. Our traveling team includes Elizabeth, Bill F, Lenora, Glenn, and one of our new seminary students, Hannah. The folks coming from all around the Horn will include Alan & Marcie, Doug & Leda and Ken & Beth. Your continued involvement includes the following 3 specific areas.
-
As the team goes on our behalf to extend our Kingdom mission effort around the world, you are encouraged to pray both for the TBC team and for some select families attending Oasis. You as an individual along with Sunday School classes and Growth Groups will be invited to join in this prayer effort. Pick up prayer guides in the gallery and sign up to be a part of the 24 hour prayer team.
-
Thanks for helping with the special gifts our team will transport to Dubai.
-
As we get very close to reaching our goal for the team financial support needed, we want to say thanks for your sacrificial giving.
We walk together in praying, giving, and going in this continuing adventure of faith, obedience, and witness to which God is calling all of us.
After Oasis, the team will fly to Ethiopia to spend 3 days with Doug & Leda before heading home.

Summer Camps Are Here!
Parents, summer has arrived. Below are a few events TBC encourages you to consider incorporating into your lives this summer. Here are 3 activities that are designed to deepen your and your children's walk with Jesus. See Pastor Brice for more details on each.
1. Sports Camp is a wonderful week of activities for your kids ages 4-11 years. Choose between basketball, soccer, cheerleading, and Team 45 (for 4-5 year olds). This is a fantastic way for your kids to invite their friends to have fun with sports, while learning about entering a relationship with Christ. In the last four years there have been on average 50 decisions for the Lord made during this week.
Camp is June 24-28 from 9am-12:15 at Mary E. Silveira Elementary School in the Marinwood region of San Rafael. To register, click on sports camp. Please see Pastor Brice for any last minute details.
2. Children's Camp is a sleep away camp at Camp Cazadero on the Russian river. This year's theme is: Camp Rocks! Your child will explore how to develop a rock solid faith. July 21-25 camp is for students who have completed 1st-3rd grades and July 28-Aug 1 camp is for students who have completed 4th-6th grades. To register, click on children's camp. See Brice for more details. Registration packets are on the camp table in the gallery. 3. Family Camp has become an annual joy for many at TBC. Whether you have children at home or not, are married or not, you will enjoy Labor Day weekend in the Redwoods near Santa Cruz. The value of the camp is extraordinary and scholarships are available through Mount Hermon. Click on family camp for more information about scholarships or to register. See Brice for details.

Feed Those Who Feed Us - Davis CA

On July 15, our church will travel to Davis to work with one of the poorest segments of the US population, the migrant farm workers of the Central Valley of California. After a site visit to learn more about our role in this special week, we are ready to start the preparation for our week at the Migrant Center outside of Davis. We will partner with Poleline Road BC, Lincoln Hill Community Church, and another Hispanic church from Davis as we provide a wide variety of activities during the week of July 15-19. Here is a list of our activities and the TBC leadership team:
This is going to prove to be an awesome experience and we look forward to what God will do through our effort. We will have sign-up sheets out soon to begin enlisting more folks for the project. For more details, talk to Andy or Pastor Glenn. |

A Very Special Thanks
The church and especially the staff would like to say thank you to Michelle Parsley for filling in during this school year while Ida has been completing an internship related to her Masters study. Michelle has been faithful each Tuesday and some Fridays in the office, along with other projects that she has completed away from the office. She was willing to stand in the gap for TBC during this critical time in Ida's education.
Michelle, thanks!

Prayer Request
We learned on June 4th, that former Pastor Barry Stricker's father died early that morning. Many of you know that he had left his home in KY and moved into the Stricker home in Alpena due to his health situation. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Stricker family. We ask that you pray for Barry, Beth, Pam and family as they grieve the loss of their dad.

Beth's on Sabbatical
Beth has begun her sabbatical that will run from June through August. She will head to a worship conference in Ridgecrest, NC, and will also get to spend some quality time with her mother in AL. Put her on your prayer list and pray for her during these summer months. Our worship will be in good hands as Carlena Speed and others lead in Beth's absence. Thanks to TBC for making this sabbatical possible.

Support for Tahoe City Baptist Church
For many years TBC has been collecting and donating used ink jets, cell phones, and laser toners to Tahoe City Baptist Church. The money Tahoe City receives from recycling these items has been used to provide financial support for the church day school and other programs including 4 vans for transporting children to and from school. In addition, the church provides a preschool, before and after school ministry equipped with computers, Big A Club, Parents' Night Out, My Morning Out, Bible studies, and church services at 6 different ski areas. The church averages ministering to at least 100 children each day year round. 80% of the children who attend these ministries do not go to church anywhere. The field is ripe and ready for harvest. They appreciate your continued support by donating ink jets, cell phones, and laser toners in the box in the gallery. Bill & Jean Hagler will deliver them.

Word of Encouragement
Trust God from the bottom of your heart;don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;he's the one who will keep you on track. Don't assume that you know it all.Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own;give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. But don't, dear friend, resent God's discipline;don't sulk under his loving correction. It's the child he loves that God corrects;a father's delight is behind all this.
