Greetings!
I want to speak to you about two important events in the life of our church. Two weeks ago TBC engaged architect Dan Cook of the firm Building God's Way to lead us over a three day period in an intense process of design planning called a Charrette. Dan's firm has been involved in over 700 Christian building projects and 3.5 billion dollars worth of construction. Dan met with staff, our Facilities Use, Planning and Remodel Committee, ministry leaders and interested members of the church to assess, evaluate and address the present and future ministry capabilities of our facilities. Parking, children, youth, & adult education, worship, fellowship, music, banquet, and handicap access needs were all addressed. The result was a bold and comprehensive proposal which - in varying degrees - addressed all of those concerns. Significant feedback was given Mr. Cook throughout the process. He is working on addressing those concerns and making a more complete proposal. When that is ready - probably in a couple of months - we will lay it before the church for prayer, discernment as to God's purposes and plans, and consideration as to whether God might be calling us to all, part or none of these plans.
Secondly, this June we will be sending a mission team of four or five to Dubai & Ethiopia. This will continue the long history of missions support and participation on behalf of our church. This team visit is particularly important in that we will be supporting the region we have specially supported at Tiburon - North Africa and the Middle East. While the team will be supporting their Oasis meeting in Dubai, they will also visit Doug & Leda's ministry in Ethiopia. It will cost each member $3,500 to go, a larger than normal amount for a mission trip. They are going on our behalf - not only to carry ministry and to change the world - but in order that we as a church might be part of God's global purposes and so that we might be changed ourselves. This is a mission trip for each one of us and we need to be active in taking part prayerfully and financially in our team's ministry. Let me call upon every member of the church to consider giving something - large or small - to this important international ministry opportunity for our church. It is an exciting time to be walking together at Tiburon in the adventure of faith, obedience and witness to which God is calling us. In the Bonds of Christ, Pastor John |

Youth & Other Miscellaneous Youth Stuff

Youth Sunday is this Sunday, May 5th. Steve will be preaching and our youth will assist with all aspects of the service. In preparation for their Hawaii mission trip, everyone is invited to gather downstairs after the late service for an old fashion Hawaiian Luau. Rumor has it we will even have Poi. Yum! If you didn't purchase tickets in advance, no problem. There will be plenty of food and dancing.
Since we will have lunch together, Family Meeting has been scheduled for 2 pm in the sanctuary for our quarterly business session. There will be no other Sunday evening activities following our meeting. See you Sunday.

Family Meeting - Sunday at 2 pm
This Sunday, May 5th, right after the Hawaiian Luau, we will meet in the Sanctuary for our quarterly business session. Since we are meeting right after lunch, there will be no potluck. The University of Life: a special thanks
After completing two sessions of U of L classes this spring, your attendance spoke volumes regarding the quality of the courses offered each time. Reports included high praise for the leaders who taught and facilitated. We want to say a big thanks to Rex Shaver, Beth Singleton, Stephen Aoki, John & Cynthia Klock, Don Dent, Jonathan McCormick, Dan McLennon, and Eric Kwok for their faithful contributions to our first offering of University of Life. Thanks to Sara and Ryan as they took good care of our children. And a special thanks to each of you for your attendance and participation. See you next spring in U of L.

Explore Class Continues
Pastor John began the Explore Class last Sunday and it will continue for three more weeks at 9:40 am. If you are new to the faith, new to Baptist life, new to TBC, or simply have some questions about a variety of topics from church membership to ordinances of the church, it's not too late to attend. The class begins Sunday morning at 9:40 am in the Sanctuary. Bring your questions as Pastor John leads this exploratory class of Christian faith.

Senior Adult Ministry Restarts on May 7
Our senior adult ministry has a rich history through the years. On Tuesday, May 7, we will once again begin this important ministry to the largest growing segment of the Marin County population. Under the leadership of Judy Good and Beth Fort, our senior adults will gather on May 7th at 11:30 am for a potluck lunch and an open discussion for direction for the future. Some of our past activities included visits to Filoli Garden as seen in the photo with Paul, Carolyn, and Ann. We hope you will join us as we gather for lunch and to chart our course for the upcoming months. |

Spring Music Festival on May 19
Join us on Sunday, May 19th, at 6 pm as music ministry will showcase all of the hard work that has taken place from our preschoolers through adults. Our choirs will perform along with our hand bell teams. There are always surprises, especially among our children who work so hard playing a variety of instruments. Get your cameras out and join us for an evening of musical celebration as we worship together and applaud the accomplishments of all our musicians. A special thanks goes out to Beth, Craig, Jennifer, Carlena, and a cast of what seems like thousands that work with our growing children's music ministry.

The Dubai Team Prepares for Oasis
The TBC team will be a part of a larger team of 60 volunteers from Florida as we journey to the Oasis meeting to serve the personnel from the Horn of Africa. Our team includes Elizabeth Liu, Bill Fort, Lenora Kwok, Glenn Prescott, and possibly a new seminary student, Hannah Smith. The folks coming from all around the Horn will include Doug & Leda and Ken & Beth. You can be involved as we head to the Middle East in late June in three specific ways. -
We ask for you to pray both for the TBC team and for some families attending Oasis. Sunday School classes and Growth Groups will be invited to join in this prayer effort.
-
You will have opportunity to help provide some special gifts for these families. You can stop by the gift tree to select a gift to purchase. Our TBC team will transport these gifts to Dubai.
-
You will be able to assist the TBC team through financial support.
After Oasis, the team will fly to Ethiopia to spend 3 days with Doug & Leda before heading home. |

Summer Camps Are Here!
Parents, summer is quickly approaching. Below are a few items TBC encourages you to consider incorporating into your lives this summer. Here are 3 activities that are designed to deepen your, and your children's, walk with Jesus. See Pastor Brice for more details on each.
1. Sports Camp is a wonderful week of activities for your kids ages 4-11 years. Choose between basketball, soccer, cheerleading, and Team 45 (for 4-5 year olds). This is a fantastic way for your kids to invite their friends to have fun with sports, while learning about entering a relationship with Christ. In the last four years there have been on average 50 decisions for the Lord made during this week.
Camp is June 24-28 from 9am-12:15 at Mary E. Silveira Elementary School in the Marinwood region of San Rafael. To register, click on sports camp. Sports Camp includes many needs for adults to help for both the full week or one time offerings. This includes help with housing a team of 9 college students coming from Oklahoma that will work at the camp. If you'd be willing to house one or more students for the week, please see Pastor Brice. Information will be available starting Sunday at the camp table. 2. Children's Camp is a sleep away camp at Camp Cazadero on the Russian river. This year's theme is: Camp Rocks! Your child will explore how to develop a rock solid faith. July 21-25 camp is for students who have completed 1st-3rd grades and July 28-Aug 1 camp is for students who have completed 4th-6th grades. To register, click on children's camp. See Brice for more details. 3. Family Camp has become an annual joy for many at TBC. Whether you have children at home or not, are married or not, you will enjoy Labor Day weekend in the Redwoods near Santa Cruz. The value of the camp is extraordinary and scholarships are available through Mount Hermon. Click on family camp for more information about scholarships or to register.

Beth Singleton on Sabbatical
Beth will begin a long overdue sabbatical that will run from June through August. She will take a much needed break to rest and refuel. She has a variety of activities planned including a worship conference in Ridgecrest, NC. Put her on your prayer list and pray for her during these summer months. Our worship will be in good hands this summer as Carlena Speed and others lead in Beth's absence. Thank you TBC for making this sabbatical possible.

Support for Tahoe City Baptist Church
For many years TBC has been collecting and donating used ink jets, cell phones, and laser toners to Tahoe City Baptist Church. The money Tahoe City receives from recycling these items has been used to provide financial support for the church day school and other programs including 4 vans for transporting children to and from school. In addition, the church provides a preschool, before and after school ministry equipped with computers, Big A Club, Parents' Night Out, My Morning Out, Bible studies, and church services at 6 different ski areas. The church averages ministering to at least 100 children each day year round. 80% of the children who attend these ministries do not go to church anywhere. The field is ripe and ready for harvest. They appreciate your continued support by donating ink jets, cell phones, and laser toners in the box in the gallery. Bill & Jean Hagler will deliver them.

Word of Encouragement
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion-to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.
