Greetings!

Holy Week 2013 is now history. With all the work spent preparing music, food, special services, and space for an extra 225 people who don't normally come to church, there is the potential for a big let down during the week after Easter. This is always a tiring event and I often feel as though so many of our special guests don't even care. However, I hope that is not the case for you. I have to remind myself and I hope you understand that the sacrifice of time and energy is more than worth the effort to bring glory to God, in celebrating the risen Savior, and to share this great hope to people who desperately need the Lord, whether they realize it or not. We will pray for that reality in their lives.

Upon arrival at home on Sunday night, I watched the fifth and final episode of The Bible. After being pretty critical with week one, I decided to stop watching with critical evaluation of the intricate detail that the Bible completely deserves; noting everything they left out and wondering why they spent so much time on this story or that. They only had 3000 plus years to cover in ten hours. I resigned myself to the fact that this was simply one human interpretation and unless they left out or added some non-negotiable that would brand this as heresy, I would watch and pray that non-believers by the thousands would also be watching. We will never know the exact number of people in need of Jesus that actually watched, but I hope and pray that they did.

Halfway through the fifth episode with one hour left, Jesus had died on the cross and was laid in the grave with the stone firmly in place. The next scene would be his first appearance to his disciples. I commented that this was the hour that everyone wanted after watching The Passion of the Christ. They had exactly 60 minutes to walk us through the Acts of the apostles, the missionary journeys of Paul, his letters to the churches, and on to the end with John writing Revelation on the isle of Patmos. It was really a whirlwind hour to attempt to touch on all that and I knew they could not possibly hit everything. But it was a very emotional last hour for me. The production has plenty of critics, but who doesn't.

I was struck by the portrayal of those first disciples and all that we owe to their faith and commitment to give their all. I stand today as a testimony to them and countless others who have followed in their footsteps to make sure that I had access to the gospel, the Holy Scripture, and the church itself. When I think of the courage that they exhibited, I feel ashamed of how much I fail from day to day and how far short I fall in being all that God has called me to be. I treat my faith so lightly and take so much of it for granted. God, please forgive me.

I hope that someday I will be able to echo the words of Paul when he said, for I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

And the older I get, I so long for his appearing.

Classes will include (1) Who Are Baptists and What Do They Believe led by Jonathan McCormick, (2) Spiritual Warfare led by Don Dent, (3) Faith in the Workplace led by Dan McLennon & Eric Kwok, and (4) Discipleship Produces Evangelism & Missions led by Pastor Glenn. Men's Retreat at Camp Cazadero
don
On April 19-20, our men will head to Cazadero for our annual getaway. The theme is Men of Faith: Satisfaction, Transformation, Fulfillment. Our guest speaker will be Don Dent who comes to us after 30 years of overseas mission service and our own local artist, Rob Collins, will be leading our worship. The cost is $85 and you can pay on any Sunday morning by putting your check to TBC in the offering and clearly marking it for the men's retreat. We will leave Marin around 5 pm and 24 hours later, we will be getting ready to head home. This may be the most important 24 hours in your life as you engage with other men of faith. You know this is where you need to be. Just do it!
Women's Ministry Spring Brunch
beth
The TBC women will meet on Saturday, April 20, from 11 am till 1 pm for their annual Spring Brunch. This year's theme is Grow in God's Grace. This is a great opportunity to reach out and bring a friend with you. Since the guys will be at their retreat, childcare will be provided by making a reservation at the sign-up table in the Gallery during the next two Sundays. If you have any questions, contact Janet Prescott.
AAEO & FTWFU
ftwfu
We have received $6523 toward our goal of $7500. Thanks for your giving over and above your regular tithe to this important offering to support missions across North America and for our participation in the Feeding Those Who Feed Us program that we will participate in this summer. It is not too late to give and help us reach our goal.

Our dates for participating in FTWFU will be July 15-20 in Dixon (about 15 miles out of Vacaville). We will begin sign-ups and planning meetings very soon. Stay tuned.

Youth & Other Miscellaneous Youth Stuff
pig Can you say Pig Pit? More about that later. Have you been upstairs on Sunday morning lately? The youth group is growing like crazy. Continue to pray for our youth and their leaders as they complete preparation for their upcoming summer trip to Hawaii. You are invited to join us on May 5th, as we celebrate Youth Sunday. Steve will be preaching and our youth will be assisting with all aspects of the service. After the late service, we will gather in the fellowship hall as they host an old fashion Hawaiian Luau. Make plans to be in town for this important day.
Preparation Begins for the Dubai Team
dubai
The TBC team is now set and we will be joining 45 other volunteers from Florida as we journey to the Oasis meeting to serve the personnel from the Horn of Africa. Our team includes Carlena Speed, Cheri Patterson, Elizabeth Liu, Bill Fort, and Glenn Prescott. The folks coming from the Horn will include Doug & Leda and Ken & Beth. You will be very much involved as we head to the Middle East in late June in three specific ways.
  • You will have opportunity to pray both for the TBC team and select families from the Horn.
  • You will have opportunity to help provide some special gifts for families coming to the Oasis meeting.
  • You will be able to assist the TBC team through financial support.

Each team member has been asked to provide as much support as they can toward their personal trip costs. Due to the late request for TBC to join the Florida group and the larger than normal cost for the trip, your support for the TBC team will be especially helpful and a blessing to each person going. You may begin supporting the team through designated contributions to TBC for the Dubai Team.

Rice Spring Concert Tour Continues

Linda and Willis are well into their spring concert tour of California prisons. When they finish, they will have played 30 concerts in 10 prisons. Over 100 men and women have already prayed to receive Christ as their Savior. Be in prayer for them as they share Linda's electric harp and Willis' testimony of the good news of Jesus with men and women all over CA.
Summer Sports Camp - Help Needed
camp
For this year's sports camp (June 24-28), a volunteer team from Oklahoma will travel to help both the morning camp for our kids and to reestablish the afternoon mission camp in the Canal area of San Rafael.

We need your help in hosting one or more students for nine days from June 21-29. You will be asked to provide them a space to sleep, breakfast, and maybe a dinner or two during their stay. We are hoping to use a large van to transport the team each day. If you can help, or have more questions, please notify Pastor Brice or Michelle Parsley

Can You Send A Card?
One of our members, Frankie Perelson, has asked if we can send a card to her daughter, Whitney, who is currently in New York. She has a very serious surgery coming up and she is very lonely and in much pain. We are asking if you would send a card to her telling her that we are praying for her during this time of medical treatment while she is a long distance from home. Thanks for your willingness to reach out to Whitney. Cards can be sent to:

Word of Encouragement
So they drew near to the village to which they were going. He acted as if he were going farther, but they urged him strongly, saying, "Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is now far spent." So he went in to stay with them. When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them. And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their sight. They said to each other, "Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?" And they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, saying, "The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!" Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread.
