Greetings!
A Sunday School teacher named Edward Kimball won a shoe clerk to Jesus by the name of Dwight L. Moody. Moody traveled to England and through his preaching awakened the heart of a young pastor named F.B. Meyer. Meyer became one of the great Bible expositors, came to the U.S. and preached on college campuses. He was used to convert a student to Christ by the name of Wilbur Chapman. Chapman attended one of D.L. Moody's services in Chicago and became his co-worker. He employed an ex-baseball player as his assistant by the name of Billy Sunday. Sunday became a great evangelist and preached in Charlotte, NC, at a meeting organized by the Billy Sunday Layman's Evangelistic Club. It was later renamed the Christian Business Men's Club. CBMC invited an evangelist named Mordecai Ham to Charlotte, NC, to preach a revival. Ham preached in the tent meeting where Billy Graham was saved.
I am only one in a chain of men and women God has raised up through the centuries to build Christ's church and to take the gospel everywhere. Billy Graham
What difference can one life make? We are a member of the family of God, the body of Christ, because the unbroken chain of people from the first disciples to this day remained faithful to the task to which God calls all of His followers. Will you be the one that hands the baton on to the next generation? Will you be the faithful one that shares with that other person who may in fact touch the life of someone God uses in a mighty way?
You in fact are that someone and God chooses you to be his faithful servant. Are you up to that challenge? |

Ordination of Steve Reynolds
The ordination council met last Sunday to examine our youth minister, Steve Reynolds, for consideration of ordaining him to the gospel ministry. About twenty gathered to hear Steve's testimony and to ask him to share his understanding of the important tenets of the faith such as his view of Scripture, his calling to ministry, what he believes about the church, and much more. After a time of questions and answers, the council voted unanimously to recommend Steve to the church for ordination. We will consider this recommendation on Sunday night at our family meeting. If we vote to approve Steve, we will gather on Sunday, Feb 17, at 6 pm for his ordination service.

Dear Fellow TBC Parent, I humbly share a piece of my heart with you today. It has been a joy for me to watch Brice over the last few years as he's rolled up his sleeves and dived into his ministry here at TBC. As he's done so, we've both noticed that slowly, but surely, the Holy Spirit has burdened us with an increasing desire to not only see TBC provide learning and growing opportunities for our collective children at church services, Sunday school and other activities, but also to EQUIP and ENCOURAGE parents to be disciplers of their children in their own homes.
Over the course of the last year and a half, I have had the opportunity to partner with a dear friend in a little blog called RaisingDeepRoots. We have a shared vision of ministering to our respective church families through it. So here it is - an invitation to join us in the endeavor to be even just a little bit more intentional in our parenting at home when it comes to teaching the things of God and doing what we can to make our places where one just can't help but think of Jesus! We hope and pray that here you will find some encouragement, some tried and true resources, and some ideas for making scripture memory, Bible reading, and family devotional time meaningful, fun and fruitful. Even more exciting to us, is the thought that you would dialogue back with us. Share your successes, your ideas, your frustrations and your joys and aha! moments with us. Many of you have walked this path ahead of us and we crave your wisdom!
To start us off, I'm sharing a link to a post that was written last year after our Easter celebration was over. Because next Wednesday is the start of Lent already, I thought you might enjoy an idea that begins with a Lent activity that could take you right through Good Friday and finishes with a fun way to celebrate the victory over sin we have in Jesus because of Easter! Here it is. May you be blessed, equipped and encouraged. Susan

The Insanity of God
Have you read The Insanity of God yet? We want to encourage you to get a copy and start reading. Pastor Glenn's mother-in-law says it is the most important book I have read outside of the Bible. Miriam Burdick said I could not put it down. You can get your copy at various places. The print edition is available from Amazon or Christianbook.com for about $10. It is also available on Kindle & Nook. This is the other book you must read.

Word of Encouragement
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed - a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith.
