Greetings!
By the time you read this, the United States of America will have reelected the 44th or elected the 45th president in our brief two hundred plus year history. And just like the hot stove league in baseball, an imaginary term used for off season discussions, we will now settle into all the buzz about how much better off our country is or how we are certainly doomed.
Let me remind you that as believers we are only passing through this world. This is not our home and we have so much more for which to look forward. In the meantime, we are here and are asked to navigate this journey under the direction of the Holy Spirit. We are encouraged to continue to pray for those in authority over us whether they be Republican or Democrat. It is always an interesting discussion if that should extend to the Nazi party or the Communist party in days gone by, but that is a discussion for another day.
We have heard much harsh language on every level in this election from local school boards to who will reside in the White House. It is time to retire from such language and to do our best in being the citizens that God has called us to be. Are you willing to rise above the circumstance? Are you willing to pray for the next president of the United States?
Regardless of who wins the election, our country will still be deep in debt, countless numbers will still be looking for jobs, people in the Northeast will still be cleaning up the aftermath of Sandy, crime will still abound on the streets of our cities, wars will still be waged around our planet and there will still be much work to do.
Our hope does not rest in a presidential candidate, but in a Savior who lived among us and was subjected to a cruel death on a cross. The One in whom we place our hope was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested. For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished.
The 2012 election is not the end of the world nor the answer to all our problems. Our trust is in the God who loves us and cares for us more deeply than we can understand. Are you discouraged? Be the encouragement to someone else needs. I hope you will be the faithful one in the midst of all that is unfaithful in our world. You can make a difference because of who you are in Christ.

Youth & Other Miscellaneous Stuff
What's happening with our teenagers? Join us this Friday, Nov 9, for a Scavenger Hunt to end all hunts. Even if we tried to explain it, you won't believe what we'll be doing. It is going to blow your mind! Be at TBC at 7 pm and bring a friend for a crazy time. Then on Wed, Nov 21, we will gather in San Rafael for the annual Turkey Bowl at 7 pm. Yes, bowling for turkeys! Oh yes, your friends are especially welcomed to come to these two events. Did I mention that we are going to Hawaii in the summer of 2013 for missions trip? It's an island. Plug in now for the prep time to get ready for that big trip and all the other things along the way. See Steve & the gang for more details. Also, this special video is for youth only during this Lottie Moon Christmas Offering season; adults beware.

Susan Prnjak Memorial Bike Ride
On Saturday, Nov 10, bicycle riders will head to the Silverado Trail in Napa County to remember Susan and to raise money for two worthy projects. Part of the money will go to the Horn of Africa to help Doug and his windmill project and part of the money will go to aid the research of traumatic brain injuries. Most of the riders are signed up and volunteers are in place, but if you would still like to be a part of this important benefit ride, you can send checks to Tiburon Baptist Church and mark them for the Prnjak Memorial Bike Ride. They can be sent to our address at the bottom of this enewsletter.

Word of Encouragement Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: Be holy, because I am holy.
