GPAC Kicks Off Robert's Maine Grill 2015 Community Suppers
Robert's Maine Grill, in Kittery, Maine, will kick off it's "Community Supper" series for 2015 with the Garrison Players Arts Center. Dinners will be held on Tuesday, January 6 and Tuesday, January 13 starting at 4:00pm. Reservations are recommended by calling 207-439-0300. Every Tuesday & Wednesday night Robert's Maine Grill, Route 1, in Kittery offers a "Community Supper" starting at 4PM. The main focus of the supper is a $14, three-course menu - a mid-week "recession buster" offering. The menus are in the spirit of Robert's style: Maine Comfort Food with an updated twist. Robert's regular dinner menu is also available. To add to the community spirit of it, each Tuesday & Wednesday Robert's donates a portion of proceeds from the evening to a local non-profit. Mini Iron Chef Breakfast Edition Challenge at Children's Museum on January 18
Kids who love to cook are invited to test their skills at the Children's Museum of NH's 5th annual Mini Iron Chef Challenge on Sunday, January 18. This event is sponsored by Hannaford Supermarkets as part of the FoodWorks partnership that Hannaford created with the museum. This year, competitors are challenged to create a unique and tasty breakfast item in a one-hour timeframe. Each child works with a parent or adult friend as a teammate. Children ages 4-7 will compete from 1:00 - 2:00 pm, and children ages 8-12 will be cooking from 3:30 - 4:30 pm. Pre-registration is required because space is limited and this program always sells out. The not-for-profit Children's Museum of New Hampshire is located at 6 Washington Street in Dover. Northeastern Ballet presents Beauty and the Beast Auditions
On the heels of near-sellout performances of "The Nutcracker" in Durham and Wolfeboro, Northeastern Ballet Theatre will be holding auditions for their upcoming spring/summer original production of "Beauty and the Beast" on Saturday, January 10, 2015 in their Wolfeboro studio and Sunday, January 11, 2015 in their Dover studio.
Auditions are open to dancers from any dance school and times for the auditions are the same in both locations: 2:30 - 3:00pm - 6 - 8 year olds, 3:00 - 3:30pm - 9-11 year olds, 3:30 - 4:00pm - 12 years and older. Please bring pre-pointe/pointe shoes if you have them. There will be a $30 audition fee due at the audition, and a $35 production fee due at the first rehearsal. Zebra Crossings Visiting Day on January 10th
Throughout the academic year, Zebra Crossings offers monthly enrichment programs for children with chronic health conditions to help build a strong peer support network and a sense of belonging in our participants. Interested families can enroll at any time throughout the year. On January 10th they will kick off their 2015 monthly winter program series with "Wildlife Encounters" at their home base, the McConnell Center in Dover. This program will also serve as their Visitors Day, providing an opportunity to interested children, families, volunteers and sponsors to join and learn about Zebra Crossings. Seeing the program first hand and meeting their staff is helpful for families who are considering joining their programs and summer camps. Goal Setting, Computer Literacy, and Drawing Classes to Start the New Year at DALC
What better way to start the new year than to take a class on Goal Setting at the Dover Adult Learning Center? Learn how to set clear goals in eight important areas of your life and then prioritize your list into a workable, enjoyable plan in this fast-paced workshop taking place on Monday, January 26, 7-9pm. Try the Intermediate Computer Literacy class, which will cover spreadsheets for financial and data management, PowerPoint presentations, and page layout/publication skills. Students can choose from a morning class starting January 21, or an evening class beginning January 26. Indulge your artistic side in Drawing with Watercolor Pencils! This course is intended to teach the student the correct way to use colored pencils in both dry and wet techniques on Wednesdays, 6-8pm, January 28-March 4.
