Free Art Rocks Program Kicks Off Cochecho Arts Festival

The Cochecho Arts Festival is back in town for its 28th year of bringing the arts to Dover!  A summer of fun is being kicked off with an Art Rocks free community art collaboration project.  Join in with local artist Beth Wittenberg, as participants collaborate to make a rocking decoupage guitar that will be on display at the Cochecho Arts Festival all summer long.  For more information call (603) 742-2218.

Dover Library Presents Granite Gallows
Tuesday, May 20th, 7:00pm
The Dover Public Library will have local historian and educator Christopher Benedetto present Granite Gallows: The Origins of New Hampshire's Debate over the Death Penalty.  Benedetto will exhume the Granite State's first death penalty cases, especially the tragic saga of Elisha Thomas, a Revolutionary War veteran who was hanged in Dover for a 1788 murder.
Guided Walking Tours of Historic Dover Tour
Saturdays, 10:30am, May 24th through September 13th
The Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce will once again offer Guided Walking Tours of Historic Dover on Saturday mornings this summer.  Tours begin at the Dover Chamber and will leisurely stroll through Dover's Historic Downtown area, with numerous stops along the way during which the Guide will point out places of interest, offer historical perspective, and share stories and anecdotes about the people, places and events that have helped shape Dover.  Reservations are recommend and can be made by calling (603) 742-2218.
Great Bay Rowing Great Bay Rowing Offering Summer Programs 
Summer 2014 Great Bay Rowing's Junior Summer Programs are being offered at Jackson's Landing in Durham. There are camps for beginners (Learn to Row I), advanced beginners (Learn to Row II), and juniors who have participated on a competitive team (Junior Team ).  Click here for a listing of all program offerings.
Get CPR & First Aid Certified at DALC
Dover Adult Learning Center has a CPR Certification class on June 3, in which you can become certified in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR as well as AED. You will also find out how to recognize and care for heart attack, stroke, and choking victims. In the First Aid class on June 5, you will learn how to handle situations such as breathing problems, allergic reactions, bleeding wounds, bites and stings, poisonings and more. Classes can be taken separately. Each class runs from 6:30pm to 9:00pm, costs just $30, and all participants receive a certification good for two years. For more information call (603) 742-1030.

Online Auction Benefits SEED

The Seacoast Educational Endowment of Dover (SEED) will launch its Innovation In Blooman online auction to support excellence in Dover's public schools.  The two week online auction will feature dozens of one-of-a-kind experiences and items.  All proceeds raised will go to funding educator grant proposals.

Dover NH Seal Dover Downtown Access and Streetscape Study 
Thursday, May 15th, 12:00pm to 1:30pm, McConnell Center Cafeteria

Downtown business owners are encouraged to attend a Business Stakeholder Roundtable on Alternatives and Choices.  The forum will provide a chance for business owners to discuss the circulation alternatives being proposed in the City's Downtown Access and Streetscape Study, particularly in terms of how they would influence retail parking, access, and success. The meeting will be led by the City's consultants, retail expert Bob Gibbs and urban designer Steve Cecil.
