No matter what the weather is doing, the climate inside as you tell your flower-chocolates.jpgstories transforms your listeners to the world you are creating, allowing them to feel safe and warm.  With a plethora of special days to choose from in February, the list of stories is endless.  Whether you choose to share a story where the protagonists fall in love,  (Eeeewwwww! I love the kids' reaction to these!) or take them on an adventure they'll never forget, (my classes are still fixated on the Halloween stories!) just know that your stories allow them to escape to a world where anything is possible.  Who knows, maybe they will grow up to understand that the possibilities are endless for their lives!

Through the art of oral storytelling, Spellbinders®, an award-winning non-profit organization, enhances literacy, builds inter-generational community and develops character.

 Announcements
  • Anne Saunders would like to remind everyone that she has the Volunteer Forms that are required for us to fill out before we can tell stories at any venue.
  • Cindy Beckage has the school contacts sheets for liaisons to fill in.  In addition, there are several school openings available, especially at Rimrock Elementary.
  • Now is the time to begin making plans to attend the National Conference and Rocky Mountain Spellbinders Conference!  Events will be held at the Golden Community Center with the National Conference on Friday, April 22, 2016 and the RMS Conference on Saturday, April 23, 2016.  Room rate is $67.50 at the Days Inn in Golden.  More information will be available in the National Newsletter.
  • Constance announced that the Story Circle nights that meet in her home have been changed to the second Friday of each month.  If you would like to hone your storytelling skills or enjoy listening to music, this is your opportunity to do so.

The following information was provided by Janice Shepherd on an easy way to make a donation to Spellbinders:

City Market will donate to Mesa County Spellbinders - with your help.

City Market has changed their Community Rewards program. If your Value card was previously associated with a charity, it may no longer be so if you haven't enrolled online. You will need to have a registered email ID at www.citymarket.com (you may want to use a 2nd email address instead of your primary one). Once you are logged in:

  - Click on your name at the top right corner

  - Scroll down to the bottom of your profile to see your         Community Rewards registration

  - Click on Edit below Community Rewards to select a charity

  - Search for "Mesa County Spellbinders" or scroll through the list

  - Select the charity of your choice and Click on "Enroll"

Use your Value card when you shop.

City Market will send a quarterly check to the charity each time the total amount earned is greater than $25.00. Together we can earn money for Mesa County Spellbinders!

Thank you Janice for this valuable information!  I tried this and it only took a few minutes!  Simple!  (Pam)
