From Matt
Over the past few weeks I have been amazed by the generosity of our church!! Let me share with you one example: Melissa Pipkin gave the proceeds of a Zumba class to help a family in crisis. Out of her own God-given gifts of mercy, leadership, generosity and (of course) rhythm she and the gals in her class raised 401 dollars! And you know the most amazing thing about it? She came away with an empty bill fold and a zeal for life that pushes me to be a better Christ-follower. That's an economy that works! As we settle into this season, I want to remind you of reality. You might already know this but as your pastor, I thought I'd remind you... Christmas is hard for people because they set their expectations too high when they reunite with extended family members. I know very few people that have perfectly healthy memories with their family. Come to think of it, I don't know anybody who has that as their story. Family is hard work and so lower your expectations that everyone will behave over the next 21 days. You'll be glad you did. We can't judge our extended family relationships using the scale of a Hallmark Movie where everything is resolved in two hours. We must remember that we are all works in progress. And one more thought: You can't spend your way into reconciliation. I know this will come as a blow to the credit card companies but it's true. Physical, tangible presents will not change a life, but your forgiveness and unconditional love will. I love you, Matt |

NEW! Life Group . 9a
Parental Guidance Required
by Andy Stanley
Sunday mornings at 9a
Began December 2
Room 245
Led by Theresa Carrico
Join Us!
As parents, we need to do everything we can to enhance our children's relationship with us, to influence their relationships with those outside the home, and most importantly, to advance their relationship with God.
This 6-week study is a practical resource that will help parents to ask themselves the important questions: Am I economizing my time with my child, or am I investing in my child by carefully developing the quality of our relationship over the long haul? Am I striving to control the influence that friends have in my child's life? Am I nurturing a healthy, eternal perspective that will help my child to weather the inevitable storms of life?
