Summer Greetings!

It's a hot and humid summer so far!
Lots of heat has given our gardens tons of growth, and it's important to make sure our plants have lots of fertilizer to feed this growth! Slow-release or water soluble are both great choices for this time of year! It's also an important time to remember that all of your newly planted plants (even the drought tolerant, heat loving ones) will need to be watered at least once a week, deeply.

This week we're featuring three of our favourite Japanese Maples for sale. Emperor 1 Japanese Maples are one of the best! This small tree holds its excellent deep red colour all season, followed by fiery red foliage in the fall. Orangeola Japanese Maples are totally unique! They have orange-red leaves that gradually turn burgundy-green by summer. Graceful and weeping habit. Crimson Queen Japanese Maples are a weeping favourite! A graceful, mounding plant with fine lacy leaves. Rich maroom sumemr colour turns bright scarlet in fall. A smaller variety.

Japanese Maples

The diverse beauty of Japanese maples has captivated gardeners for centuries. During the Edo era in Japan, over 250 named cultivars were selected and grown. Today, there are over 1,000 varieties of different sizes, shapes and hardiness levels.
Japanese maples are especially prized for the diversity of size, shape and colour of foliage. Foliage colour changes with the season, and many are especially spectacular in the autumn. Japanese maples are usually categorized according to leaf type.
