Magical Beans
Jack and the Giant Beanstalk
Hi Kids,
This weekend at Canadale Kid's Club we're planting magical beans! Okay, so they aren't magical in the same way the beans in Jack & the Beanstalk were. These are magical simply because if we plant them and water them and give them sunlight, they will grow and produce yummy beans for us to eat. Pretty amazing if you ask me!  Hope you can join us!
This Week's Activity

This weekend at Kid's Club we are planting bean seeds. If you know the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, you'll know that Jack planted some magic beans that grew so high they reached a castle in the clouds. Well we aren't growing magic beans like his, but we can still have our bean seeds grow to reach a castle in the clouds with the magical castle trellis we'll make!

Kid's Club runs this Saturday & Sunday from
10am - 4pm and is FREE for kids of all ages!

Note: Next week is the LAST Kid's Club for the Spring/Summer season.

Growing Beans

This weekend at Kid's Club you will have your choice of 3 types of beans:
1. Jade Green Beans
2. Carson Yellow Beans
3. Royal Burgundy Purple Beans
These beans grow best in full fun with well-drained soil. They do not like to sit in wet soil. Plant bean seeds 1" deep and 3" apart. These varieties will need some support in the beginning (that's why we're making a trellis) but will develop a bushy habit as they grow. They will take just over a week to germinate (when the plant comes out of the seed). Jade beans take 60 days to harvest. Carson beans take 56 days to harvest. Royal Burgundy beans take 50 days to harvest.
