3pm - Xeriscaping

Sunday, July 12
1pm - How to Make a Tufa Container
2pm - Attracting Birds & Butterflies
3pm - What to Plant in a Tufa Container

Expert Tip of the Week

The hot and humid weather we've been receiving the last week or so are the perfect conditions for fungus, disease and insects. Some of the more common ailments brought on by the humid heat are:
-powdery mildew
-black spot
-aphids
-caterpillars
But don't worry - the control measures for each of these is quick and easy... and available at Canadale!
For powdery mildew and black spot apply a garden fungicide and allow for as much air flow as possible around your plants.
For aphids, spray an insecticidal soap directly on the pests (this is a Green Earth product).
For caterpillars, saturate the plant with a spray called BTK (a Safer's product).
If you have any further questions about pests or diseases in the garden, please feel free to bring your questions to the store where a garden centre attendant would be happy to help!

Just Arrived

New this week at Canadale are some unique and breath-taking plants that everyone needs in their garden!

Clematis Hoops (pictured) - these hardy clematis come in several unique varieties. Clematis Vines are a fantastic group of plants offering bold seasonal colour. From the beautiful, large-flowered hybrids, to the more subtle but equally stunning smaller flowered species, these plants have definitely earned their place in the spotlight.

Wisteria 'Amethyst Falls' - Back by popular demand! Amethyst Falls Wisteria is clothed in stunning chains of fragrant royal blue pea-like flowers with yellow eyes dangling from the stems from mid to late spring.

Lisianthus - a romantic annual with showy cup-shaped flowers all summer long. The flowers are excellent for cutting. It's pointy leaves remain green in color throughout the season.

Canadale Kid's Club

Kid's Club is continuing to learn about where food comes from by planting Pepper Plants. These easy to grow veggies are great for cooking and even better eaten fresh off the plant!
