Wake Up Your Garden for Spring!
We're all excited for the spring gardening season, so here are a few tips for what you can be doing in your garden right now:
- Don't be in too much of a rush! Your garden beds are thawing so they'll be mucky and easily compacted if you walk around them. Be patient and wait for the ground to thaw!
- Check your yard for winter damage on plants, fences, pathways, etc.
- Tune up your tools (including the lawnmower that's been sitting in your garage all winter!)

WINTERBURN REMINDER!
Winter burn is very common, especially on trees and evergreens. This desiccation is due to the drying out of foliage and branches. This can be caused by a number of factors but is mainly due to nice sunny days in February and March when the ground is frozen and plants have used up all their moisture reserves earlier in the winter. The good news is, YOUR PLANTS ARE NOT DEAD!!!
If you have damage on your plants, especially if they are browned on one side (like our Dwarf Alberta Spruce Spiral in our display gardens), please BE PATIENT. Do not dig up your plant. Wait for new growth to appear in April and fertilize with an all purpose tree and shrub food to encourage lots of new growth. Before you know it your shrubs and trees will be completely recovered and looking like new again.
Easter Weekend Festivities
If you missed a visit with the Easter Bunny last weekend, don't worry! Bring your camera and take a photo with the Easter Bunny on Saturday & Sunday 10am - 3pm.
And this weekend at Kid's Club we will be planting up a lovely hyacinth, then dressing it up with a pretty pot cover and Easter paper. When the hyacinth blooms you'll have the sweetest scent in your home! Kid's Club runs from 10am-3pm Saturday & Sunday.
