Paly Robotics Parent Info Night New Tues, Sept. 8, 7-9pm, MAC Please join us for our Paly Robotics Parent Info Night at 7-9pm in the Media Arts Center. Members will give a presentation outlining the different subgroups of the robotics team and hand out informational packets that explain our schedule, competitions, travel costs, and more. There will be a Q&A and tour of the lab toward the end. This informational session is geared toward parents of students who are applying for the team this season. Buddies4Math: Help 2nd-5th Graders with Math, Earn Community Svc Hours
Most Fridays from 4:05-5:55pm, 1st semester tutoring Sep 11-Dec 4 at Castro Elementary, 505 Escuela Ave., Mountain View Buddies4Math is a great opportunity to help elementary school students who struggle with math while earning community service hours and working with friends. The program has had incredible quantifiable (STAR test) results, due in part to the work of Paly student volunteers. Volunteering for all sessions throughout the year is roughly equivalent to half the requirements for the President's Volunteer Service Award. Buddies4Math seeks Paly students interesting in tutoring and also those willing to take on leadership positions in the program under the mentorship of current student leaders. Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University Celebrates Artists at Work New

The Cantor Arts Center presents a major new exhibition, Artists at Work, which examines how artists become inspired, how artists make objects and how place impacts artists' work. Includes works by Édouard Manet, J. M. W. Turner, Thomas Hart Benton, Sol LeWitt, Richard Serra, Ansel Adams, Edward Weston and other renowned American and European artists. Also included are loaned works by contemporary artists Trevor Paglen, Garth Weiser, Hope Gangloff and Rachel Owens, among others. Stanford Sleep Study Ongoing We are currently conducting a study to help teens (14-18) go to bed earlier and wake up earlier. The treatment involves use of a light device that is placed by the child's bedside and flashes periodically throughout the night. Teens also meet for four sessions with a licensed psychologist at Stanford University to learn about sleep and strategies to improve sleep.
