There will be light refreshments and Paly and PTSA representatives would love the opportunity to say hello before the school year gets into full swing. If you are in town please stop by!! Any packets left at the end of this time will be mailed home. All packet forms and donations should be returned on picture day or in the office once school begins. Volunteering in the College & Career Center (C&CC) New
The College and Career Center is located on the 1st floor of the Tower Building. It is staffed by more than 40 parent volunteers who serve students and support our college and career advisors by performing administrative tasks and acting as the C&CC receptionist during a weekly 2 hour shift. Opportunities to work as a substitute or on special projects may also be available. Parents who sign up and work as substitutes and/or who work on special projects, will have priority for open "regular" shifts the following school year. To keep things running smoothly and seamlessly from year to year, we rely on returning volunteers for their experience in helping the C&CC run efficiently.
Returning Volunteer Meeting Thurs, Aug. 20, 10:30am, LCR (Library Conference Room) All returning parent volunteers are *required* to come to this meeting in order to keep their shift for the coming year.
New Volunteer Training Fri, Aug. 21, 10am, LCR (Library Conference Room) Parents of 10 th, 11th and 12 th graders who would like to become new volunteers (at least 5 spaces are available), substitutes, or work on special projects are welcome to attend this training. Attendance at the training is required in order to be eligible to volunteer in C&CC. Available shifts will be assigned on a lottery basis with priority given to 12 thgrade and 11 th grade parents. New shifts begin the week of August 24. ]For more information, contact C&CC Volunteer Coordinators Joy Frick ( joy.frick@yahoo.com) or Carlene Kemmerer (twinsbythesea@yahoo.com).
The C&CC holds an open house after each parent night in the Fall so there are other opportunities to get to know more about C&CC. There is also a wealth of information in Naviance and on www.paly.net/college. |
