Tinker, tailor, soldier, student?:  How a gap year and community college can support your graduate's path Open to all parents and high school students. Join us for a panel discussion on how your student can use community college and/or taking a gap year towards a meaningful post-high school path. We will discuss the benefits and difficulties of these routes and engage in an interactive Q&A session. Our panel is comprised of recent university graduates and professors from local colleges. This event is a continuation of our last year's Challenge Success event, Diverse Paths to Success. This event reinforces that there are varied paths to success and every child needs to discover where his/her passion intersects with education and career.

Paly Choirs' Pops Concert

9-3 pm at Palo Alto High School's Glass Studio, 50 Embarcadero Rd.   

Come learn the magic of the age-old art of glassmaking.  The 2-day weekend workshop will focus on beginning glass blowing techniques. It's an incredible, fun, hands-on experience.  Repeating  students progress from their last session.  Advanced Sign up required. Class limit is 4. Teens and adults. $375 per person. Volunteer Opportunity: Become a Mentor to a Talented First-Gen College Student New

Student Support College Success for Local Low-Income Students 

The Peninsula College Fund, which provides college scholarships, 1-1 adult mentors, college and career success training, and summer internship support to low-income, first-generation college students is seeking volunteers to serve as mentors to college students. Mentors offer advice, support, and role modeling to a student throughout the student's college career. Computers Sought for Scholarship Winners
Sequoia Adult School is looking for used computers for scholarship recipients who don't own a computer. If you or your employer have extra computers that are less than five years old and in working condition, please let us know. Each year Paly students contribute more than 40,000 hours of meaningful service to the  community? If your student is a Paly SENIOR who recently submitted hours for transcript recognition, you can check the service record at Paly.net/Service (Click on "Information.") If your student is in ANY GRADE and applied for the President's Award for Volunteer Service this semester, please check the record at Paly.net/Service. President's Award service scholars will also receive an email and a letter in the mail to invite them to the December ceremony.

High School Sailing at the Port of Redwood City  New 
Join other kids from Paly on the Sail/Race team with the Peninsula Youth Sailing Foundation as they compete in sailing regattas around the bay area. Spring practice is starting soon for all levels. Spot the AED Box - Help Save Lives

Help save a life by finding local AEDs (automated external defibrillators).  Spotting AED boxes at schools, gyms or anywhere you find them can help save lives. Paly Student Seeks Adult and Student Actors for Short Film 
Film shooting schedule late February/March
Paly video production program student Jack Brook is in the process of creating a short film, a comedic mocumentary in the spirit of Spinal Tap. He seeks adult actors (though any students interested are also welcome). The film will be under 20 minutes, so the time commitment will be minimal. The Museum of American Heritage Presents Solid State Electronics & Integrated Circuits
Mar 1, 8, 15, & 22 from 1-3:30pm, at 351 Homer Avenue, Palo Alto, California  Introductory course covering the basics of transistor and vacuum tubes and integrated circuits.. Students will discover what ICs are made of, how they work, and how they are designed and manufactured right here in Silicon Valley. Includes a class project that students can take home.
