Founded in 1991, A Window Between Worlds (AWBW) has grown to reach 27,477 participants annually in Los Angeles.  They offer the life-changing gift of art as a healing tool for women and children surviving domestic violence.

Their workshops provide a precious time for mothers and their children to bond for the first time after leaving their abusive homes and to reconnect with the greater community as individuals capable of sharing their stories of survival.

AWBW fosters the spirit of giving in others by nurturing the potential within families and facilitating the healing of hurt and broken relationships through the gift of support and awareness.  The workshops create a safe environment, which helps the children practice positive coping skills.

"The best gift you can give a community is your best self."
- Cathy Salser, AWBW Executive Director

In1982, members of the Los Angeles First Church of the Nazarene established P.F. Bresee Foundation as a separate, non-sectarian 501(c)(3) to address the social needs of the community.  Its services were meant to honor the legacy of Dr. Phineas F. Bresee, who founded the Nazarene church in 1895 and dedicated his life to serving the poor in Los Angeles.

The Bresee Foundation's mission is to provide comprehensive after-school programs and family services that equip young people to pursue their education, achieve their full potential, and serve others.

Their purpose is to improve the quality of life for youth and their families, by assisting them to gain higher levels of literacy, academic achievement, technological proficiency, career skills, health an well-being and overall family stability.
