The Rev. Donald Brantley Loadholdt

 

The Rev. Donald B. Loadholdt, 81, died Sunday, November 4, 2012 in Rock Hill, SC.

  

The funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 7, at Grace Lutheran Church, Rock Hill, SC, with Rev. Christine Stoxen and Bishop Herman Yoos officiating. Burial will be 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 8, at St. Nicholas Lutheran Church in Fairfax, SC.

 

Born in Fairfax, SC, Don was a son of the late Albert M. Loadholdt and the late Lillian Miller Loadholdt.  He graduated from Newberry College in Newberry, SC with a BA degree in 1954 and graduated from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Columbia, SC with a BD degree in 1957.

 

Pastor Loadholdt served parishes in Holly Grove, Lexington, NC 1957-1960; Kure Memorial, Kure Beach, NC 1960-1962; St. John's, Pomaria, SC 1962-1967; Immanuel, Rockwell, NC 1967-1974; and St. James, Newton, NC 1974-1994.  He officially retired in 1994 and continued to serve as an interim or supply minister until his death.  

 

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Betty Loadholdt of Rock Hill, SC; his four children, Donna Childers of Salisbury, NC; Bill Loadholdt of Chapin, SC; Cathy Lyons of Mooresville, NC; and Beth Hickman of Winston-Salem, NC; four grandchildren, Jacob and Morgan Loadholdt; Harrison Hickman; and Brantley Lyons; and his two brothers, H.M. Loadholt of Ballentine, SC and Albert M. Loadholt of Fairfax, SC.

 

The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 pm on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Rev. Loadholdt's name to the Lutheran Theological Seminary for the Rev. Don Loadholdt Scholarship Fund or Grace Lutheran Church, 426 Oakland Ave, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
