Message from the BALIF Board
|
Greetings!
They say change is scary. I say change is awesome!
Ever since changing my role on the BALIF Board to be your Social chair, I am constantly amazed and gratified at the warm welcoming community BALIF is fostering. At every one of our happy hours, as well as our many other events, I am always encountering new folks, eager to join and become part of the BALIF family.
Our October happy hour just adds to the community feeling! Two of our members, Boone Callaway and David Helbraun, very generously offered to host our monthly happy hour at their house. There will be snacks and drinks, and plenty of awesome folks to reconnect with, or meet for the first time. I hope to see many of you there, and to meet new members, as has been the tradition for me at every happy hour! Please RSVP here!
And don't forget to save the date for BALIF's social action fundraiser on October 29th, and the BALIF Holiday Party on December 9th.
See you all on Thursday!

Vote for Bayview
Hunter's Point Community Legal
|
Bayview Hunters Point Community Legal is the only legal aid office in the entire zip code, and they are doing something that's never been done before -- attempting to offer universal access to civil representation for everyone who lives in the zip code, regardless of issue. Currently, they only have two full-time attorneys on staff. They were just selected by Google as one of the "10 most innovative nonprofits in the Bay Area". Google will be giving a half-million dollar grant to four of the ten organizations -- the four who get the most votes. You can vote for Bayview Hunters Point Community Legal here.

Enjoy an evening of cocktails, delicious appetizers, and friends at the San Francisco home of former BALIF Co-Chair David Tsai, while hearing about Lambda Legal's critical work across the country protecting and expanding the rights of LGBT people and people with HIV -. The backlash against our historic marriage victory is in full force, and we refuse to leave anyone in our community behind. Contributions to support Lambda's work are greatly appreciated.
