Message from the BALIF Board
|
Greetings!
Happy New Year BALIF!
By now, the holiday decorations are put away and we're starting to see how 2015 is going to shape up. It is going to be another fantastic year for BALIF! We have a number of wonderful events planned for 2015, including this Thursday's fireside chat and reception with John Cabeca, the Director of the Silicon Valley United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). On Thursday, January 15, from 6-8 p.m. John will discuss his life and experiences in his over 25 years at the USPTO and will provide an overview of community-focused services and educational programs that will be offered at the Silicon Valley USPTO. It is not often that you get an up-close-and-personal opportunity to have such a discussion with an LGBT leader. Please come and welcome John to the Bay Area and the BALIF community. RSVP's are requested and can be made at balif.org. Thanks to Perkins Coie for hosting.
And, of course, the BALIF Partners Exchange continues with its monthly lunches, with the next on January 14, 2015. The BALIF Partner Exchange is a forum for law firm owners and partners with at least 7 years experience to exchange ideas and experiences with others similarly situated. The group is always slightly different and is highly collegial. I hope to see you at a luncheon soon.
Perhaps most importantly, expect a call or email from a BALIF Board Member soon about sponsoring our annual Gala on March 13, 2015. It will be a fabulous event, and as you may know, is BALIF's largest fundraiser of the year. The funds raised at the Gala support all of BALIF's other work. Please consider sponsoring BALIF individually or through your firm or organization.
I am proud to be a member of BALIF and thank you for all that you do for our community. I hope to see you soon!
Jamie Dupree
