Message from BALIF Co-Chairs

Hello BALIF Members and Friends,

We've launched our BALIF 1K Membership Contest for those of you with a competitive streak!

Between now and March 8, we're asking for your help to introduce BALIF to your legal professional colleagues.  The BALIF legal eagle that refers the most number of people (new members, former members, law students) to join BALIF wins four (4) VIP Admission Tickets to BALIF's 33rd Annual Dinner and Awards Gala - the Simply Fabulous! Event on March 15.

Rules and details follow in the column below.  Get that competitive spirit going, BALIF, and bring it on!

We look forward to seeing you soon!

For Those Who Like A Challenge.....

(And who doesn't??)  Refer as many members as possible to help BALIF reach - and surpass - its goal of 1,000 members. The more members we have, the stronger our voice! And BALIF's voice needs to be as strong as possible with historic events such as our Amicus Brief in the Prop 8 case on the horizon.

So, to sweeten the deal, we're giving away four (4) Gala Tickets which includes VIP Admission, and public recognition at BALIF's 33rd Annual Dinner and Awards Gala--Simply Fabulous! Event.

The rules are simple: whoever refers the most people to BALIF - and becomes a member - wins! You have from now until Friday, March 8, 2013, to get potential members to sign up on BALIF's website. You must refer a minimum of 10 people. Make sure your referral notes that you referred him/her to membership, or it won't count for you. March 8, 2013 is the deadline!

BALIF's Plus One February Happy Hour!

One of BALIF's more ambitious goals is increasing our membership to 1,000 people. Because the more members we have, the stronger our voice! And BALIF's voice needs to be as strong as possible with historic events such as our Amicus Brief in the Prop 8 case on the horizon.

If we harness the power of our current membership, we can make our goal of 1,000 members a reality. And BALIF Plus One is intended to do just that!

To kick it off, come and enjoy yourself at BALIF's Plus One Happy Hour and bring someone with you!!

Separating with Heart and Smarts: Consensual Dispute Resolution in
LGBTQ Divorce

Change is such a part of life. Our community has seen dramatic changes during our lifetime. Not only does our community change, our individual families change. What particular issues do LGBTQ families face during the major life shifts of separation or divorce? How can we, as individuals and as a community, make these transitions with Heart and Smarts? This workshop is appropriate for people with or without kids who are in any stage of separation, as well as the friends, family and professionals supporting these families. For our community's future, safety and well-being, let us resolve our disputes well - and support each other in the process. Facilitated by three Bay Area lawyer-mediators: Heba Nimr (hebanimr.com), Charles Spiegel (charlesspiegellaw.com), and Dylan Miles (milesfamilylaw.com)
