VOCAL'S Whole Health Network (VWHN) Topic #5 - Posted 5.5

"Taking a Look at What Makes Up Environmental Wellness"

SAMHSA defines environmental wellness as: "Good health by occupying pleasant, stimulating environments that support well-being". Does where you live and/or work fit this definition? Do you find that your overall well-being is supported there?

VOCAL's Whole Health Network (VWHN) Topic #4 - Posted 4.3

"Social Wellness"? What's that?

Create a good mood

Enhance self esteem

Handle stress better

Fewer cavities

Fewer colds

Social support is one of the most important factors to good mental health. Try these hints to get connected:

* Make a short list of family, friends, and peers who are supportive and positive.

* Make at least one connection per day by calling, emailing, or visiting a friend or family member.

* Join a book club or support group. Volunteer!

Webinar: "Using Emotional CPR (eCPR) to Implement Systems Transformation" - Posted 5.15

June 4th from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m.

Person-centered planning requires a system-wide shift in communication, as well as adaptation of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed values. This webinar will provide administrators, managers, and providers of mental health services with essential communication tools needed to transform their systems to being recovery-based and empowerment focused. Presenters will share about the components of Emotional CPR (eCPR), a public health education program developed by people with lived experience of mental health recovery.

An understanding of eCPR skills and values can help stakeholders to develop and implement recovery supports for people who receive mental health services. eCPR skills can also be used to more effectively collaborate with service recipients and other stakeholders. Decision-makers will learn to embody the dialogical approach needed to transform behavioral healthcare systems from maintenance to recovery. Presenters will share how eCPR has impacted and improved community mental health systems.

Presenters: Daniel Fisher, MD, PhD, W. Reid Smithdeal, MSW, LCSW, Lauren Spiro, MA
