Get Off the Resorts For a Day
Isla Mujeres
From this tiny Caribbean island, with a population of 12,000 people, and where golf carts out-number cars by a hefty margin, the first sunrise in all of Mexico is visible. Enjoy some Island Life by lounging on beautiful beaches, exploring the Garrafon National Park, strolling the picturesque Avenida Hidalgo, or swimming with whale sharks. One visit to "Isla", as it is commonly known, and you will never forget it.
Chichen Itza
Chichen Itza
This archaelogical treasure, located in Yucatan state about 2 hours west of Cancun, was named one of the New Seven Wonders Of The World in 2007. Featuring majestic Mayan pyramids and acres of intriguing ruins, this site offers a window into the cultures of the past. Be sure to see the famous "El Castillo" pyramid, the Temple of Warriors and the Great Ball Court. Open 365 days a year from 9 to 5, with easy access from Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
Xcaret Eco Park
An hour south of Cancun, and just minutes from Playa del Carmen lies the sprawling XCaret ecological theme park. It's nature-based attractions include snorkeling in either of its two underground rivers, swimming with dolphins, reef diving, one of the most complete aquariums in Latin America, and an extensive zoo. Featuring many cultural attractions like equestrian shows, native Mexican dances and a re-enactment of "Ōllamaliztli", an ancient Mexican ball game played in a 6000 seat theatre, as well as a variety of restaurants, Xcaret is a perfect place to include in your group travel program.
