VA Breast Cancer Lobby Day at the Virginia General Assembly.

VBCF Advocacy Action Alert!
Dear VBCF Supporter:

Thank you for your continued support of and interest in the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation (VBCF). Last Thursday, VBCF and partner organizations including the American Cancer Society and Komen Central Virginia hosted a successful lobby day with more than 30 breast cancer survivors, caregivers, loved ones, and supporters participating. A huge thank you to Delegate Delores McQuinn and Senator Mamie Locke for sponsoring our group introduction in the House and Senate. We appreciate their support and hospitality!

Our advocates visited our state legislators in support of Medicaid Expansion in Virginia. VBCF's mission is to educate Virginians on the facts about breast cancer and to advocate for improved public policies for Virginians affected by breast cancer. While we understand the concerns about Medicaid expansion, we hope that our elected officials will be able to reach a compromise that allows low-income, hardworking Virginians to access quality health care services and receive preventive care cancer screenings such as mammograms. While mammograms are not perfect, they are the best tool we have for breast cancer detection.

If you would like to express your support for Medicaid Expansion in Virginia, please take a moment to contact your local legislator. If you would like to learn more about Medicaid Expansion and its associated benefits to individuals and the economy, please visit the Healthcare for All Virginians Coalition website.  Healthcare access for all Virginians should not be a partisan issue but rather a commitment to assist those in need.
