The weather may be unpredictable, but the results of breast cancer advocacy are not! It is not too late to sign up to join VBCF volunteers next week to meet with our elected legislators for State Lobby Day at the Richmond Capitol on February 7, 2013. We partner with other organization volunteers including American Cancer Society, Komen Central Virginia, Sisters Network, and Nueva Vida to support improved healthcare legislation for Virginians. Learn more about this meaningful day and connect with advocates who share your passion.
If you'd like to take your own advocacy skills to the next level, consider our Karin Decker Noss Scholarship. This $5,000 scholarship program is available to the awardee for a 24-month period to attend nationally recognized breast cancer training and conferences and to bring this knowledge back to Virginia through VBCF's breast cancer advocacy program. Applications are being accepted through March 29th.
As always, VBCF is thankful to our many local business supporters across the state for their fundraising efforts on our behalf. This month, our new partner, Phat Guitars, is raffling off $5 chances to win a hand-painted custom made guitar. The raffle drawing will be held Valentine's Day, February 14th, so follow the link to donate for a chance to win.
And our friends at Starr Hill Brewery in Crozet and their local distributors are hosting Share the Love again this year beginning February 1st. A portion of the proceeds from every purchase of The Love beer for the entire month will be donated to VBCF. I am excited about these partnerships and commend local businesses which are supportive of non-profit organizations.
Calling all Amazon Shoppers! New in 2013, VBCF can benefit from your Amazon purchases. You can use the shopping link below through Valentine's Day or the Amazon link on VBCF's website, and a portion of your purchases will support VBCF.
Wishing you a healthy winter season,
