The Theater Department at Hightower High School will present "Knock Me a Kiss" on campus on October 27, 28 and 29, beginning at 7:00 p.m. each night. Presale tickets may be purchased during lunch the week prior to the performance for $5 (adults) and $3 (students).

The Ridge Point High School Fine Arts Department will present its production of "The Wizard of Oz," on October 27, 29 and 31 on campus (500 Waters Lake Blvd., Missouri City, 77459). Reserved seating tickets are available online for $12 (adults) and $8 (students). The show times are 7:00 p.m. each night, with a 2:00 p.m. matinee on Saturday, Oct. 29.

This holiday season the Travis Tiger Marching Band is selling red and white poinsettias from Enchanted Gardens for $11. Poinsettias are 16"-18" tall and come in a 6.5" foil covered pot.

Quail Valley Middle School is hosting its fall festival on Friday, October 28, from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. The festival will be on school grounds located at 3019 FM 1092, Missouri City 77459.

FBISD Superintendent Dr. Charles Dupre, along with Dr. Thomas Randle, Superintendent of Lamar Consolidated Independent School District and Dr. Robert Bostic, Superintendent of Stafford Municipal School District, recently attended the 9th annual State of the Schools luncheon hosted by the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce. The Superintendents addressed business and community leaders on issues in public education and shared their districts' accomplishments.

Fort Bend ISD recently held a dedication ceremony for its newest elementary school -- Anne McCormick Sullivan Elementary. The school is named in honor of Anne Sullivan, a Dulles High School graduate who died in the line of duty. Sullivan and three fellow firefighters died on May 31, 2013 when a roof collapsed at the Southwest Inn in Houston.

To be held in high regard by students is an honor for any teacher, just ask Jerome Muniz, environmental sciences teacher at Kempner High School. He was nominated for the "Star in the Classroom" award by one of his former students, Blake Takushi. Presented by the Houston Texans, in partnership with First Community Credit Union, the award honors outstanding teachers who go above and beyond in the classroom.

Thirty-six 5th grade students at Drabek Elementary recently made history as they became the first class to be inducted into the National Elementary Honor Society. A ceremony was held for them on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 to honor and celebrate their big accomplishment.

Quail Valley Middle School students were in it to win it during the Star Learning 2016 Mathcounts Competition, held Saturday, October 15, 2016. The QVMS team dominated in all categories, including Sprint, Target and Team Rounds.

Four Ridge Point High School FFA students, who form the school's Poultry Judging Team, are competing in the 2016 National FFA Championship competition, Oct. 19-22 in Indianapolis. Seniors Leeandria Bobo, Abby Knox, Ashley Knox and Alison Nguyen - coached by Ag Teacher David Laird - will compete in the Poultry Evaluation Career Development Events (CDE).

After spectacular game highlights on October 13, KUBE-57 TV has named the Kempner High School "Cougars" Varsity Football Team as the "Team of the Week" for the week of October 22. Todd Freed, KUBE-57 TV Sports Director and Host, presented KHS Head Football Coach Darrin Andrus and his team with the award on October 19.
