Fort Bend Education Foundation's Sugar Shindig is October 21
Grab your friends and neighbors and plan to attend the Fort Bend Education Foundation's 2nd annual Sugar Shindig on Friday, October 21, at 6:30 p.m., at Safari Texas. The adults-only event will include a fajita dinner, a cake auction and dancing to the music of Password. Tickets are $25 and are available until October 18.

FBISD's Fall Drug Take Back is Oct. 22
Fort Bend ISD will host its annual fall Drug Take Back event on Saturday, October 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the Mercer Stadium parking lot (16403 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land 77479). Sponsored by the FBISD Police Department, in conjunction with the District's Safe and Drug Free Schools division and the Fort Bend Community Prevention Coalition, the event provides the community with a safe way of disposing of unused or expired medication they may have in their homes. Middle School Theatre One-Act Play Contests, Nov. 5
Fort Bend ISD's Fine Arts Department will host its 2016 Middle School One-Act Play Contests, in both Zone A and Zone B, on Saturday, November 5. The contests will feature 40-minute theatrical performances by students representing each of the District's 14 middle schools.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Fort Bend ISD students and staff join the nation in supporting those affected with the disease, while spreading awareness of the importance of early detection, education and available support services.

Fort Bend ISD will host its final Academy Preview event to give eighth grade students and their families an opportunity to learn about the District's high school academy programs and the application process for the school year 2017-2018. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 19 at Ridge Point High School from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) has opened for the 2017-2018 school year. This marks a big change, because in previous years, the FAFSA would not be available until January 1st for the next school year. Fort Bend ISD is encouraging students to apply as early as possible.

On Wednesday, October 26, Fort Bend ISD will host a Service Academy Information Meeting to give students and their families an opportunity to learn more about the admission process for our nation's five service academies - including the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Naval Academy-Annapolis.
