Clements High School presents "The Miser"

theater The Clements High School Theatre Department is getting ready to take the stage. Tickets are on sale now for "The Miser," a five-act comedy in prose by the French playwright Molière and adapted by Miles Malleson.
Kempner to perform "The Importance of Being Earnest"
 
Theatre students at Kempner High School are gearing up for their production of The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. Performances will held on Sept. 30, Oct. 1 and Oct. 3 at 7:00 p.m., with a matinee performance on Oct. 1 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kempner High School auditorium.

FBISD Board of Trustees to kick off Listening Tour, Oct. 10 at Marshall High School
 
Community members and parents are invited to share feedback and participate in roundtable discussions during the FBISD Board of Trustees "Listening Tour" at Marshall High School on Oct. 10.
FBISD Board of Trustees adopts resolution disapproving detachment petition
 
In accordance with section 13.051 of the Texas Education Code, the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees held a public hearing Monday, September 26 to consider a petition submitted by residents of the Diamond Bay section of Shadow Creek Ranch. The petition, received in April, requested that the Board approve the detachment of the area from the District.
Trustee Jim Rice to serve as Secretary/Treasurer of Texas Association of School Boards
 
Fort Bend ISD Trustee Jim Rice will serve as Secretary-Treasurer of the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), following an election held during the Association's recent annual Delegate Assembly and Convention in Houston. Elected to the TASB Board of Directors in 2012, he chaired the Legislative Committee during the 84th Legislative Session and served on the Nominations and Planning and Development committees.

Seven FBISD Band and Orchestra Programs honored in Mark of Excellence Project
    
Fort Bend ISD is proud to announce that seven of the District's band and orchestra programs are named winners in the 2016 Mark of Excellence Project. The FBISD winners are among 236 of the finest musical ensembles, representing 36 states nationwide, to enter the competition.
Fort Bend ISD to host High School Academy Preview events, Oct. 6 and 19

Fort Bend ISD will host two Academy Preview events to give eighth grade students and their families an opportunity to learn about the District's high school academy programs and the application process for the school year 2017-2018. The events will take place on Thursday, October 6 at Kempner High School and on Wednesday, October 19 at Ridge Point High School from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. each night.
Yes You Khan! Free SAT/PSAT resources available for students
 
Fort Bend ISD wants parents and students to be aware of a free, online resource for students to get personalized practice recommendations for the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), and the Preliminary SAT 8/9 (PSAT 8/9) offered through Khan Academy. The Official SAT® Practice on Khan Academy can be accessed from any computer with Internet access at www.satpractice.org.
Volunteers needed to serve as mentors to FBISD students

Parents and community members who have a desire to help equip and inspire students to be successful, in school and in life, are invited to join Fort Bend ISD's Mentor Team. Volunteer mentors devote 30-45 minutes a week to students at all levels to help them reach their full potential.
