September 30 is the deadline to submit names for Fort Bend ISD's newest campuses and facilities. You can submit your ideas using an online form.

FBEF's 2016 Sugar Shindig
Grab your friends and neighbors and plan to attend the Fort Bend Education Foundation's 2nd Annual Sugar Shindig on Friday, October 21, at 6:30 p.m., at Safari Texas. The adults-only event will include a fajita dinner, a cake auction and dancing to the music of Password. Tickets are $25 each and are on sale now through October 18.

YIP applications due Sept. 23
High school juniors and seniors are invited to participate in the George Foundation's Youth In Philanthropy (YIP) program for opportunities to serve their community and learn about area nonprofit organizations. Online applications for the 2016-17 YIP Program will be available until Friday, September 23.

Meal Application
All FBISD families that request Free and Reduced School Meal services must complete a new application.
Applications must be submitted and approved by October 6 to avoid lapse in benefits.

District closed September 23
All Fort Bend ISD schools and offices will be closed on Friday, September 23 for Fort Bend County Fair Day. Offices will reopen and students will return to school on Monday, September 26.

Fort Bend ISD welcomed nearly 200 elected officials, business and community members, and representatives from FBISD and area school districts to a legislative luncheon on September 9 at the FBISD Administrative Annex. Sponsored by the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce Education Division, the event included an "Update on the School Finance Lawsuit" by David Thompson of Thompson & Horton LLP.

September 12 marked the beginning of the fourth week of instruction in Fort Bend ISD -- and while the 2016-17 school year is just beginning, our teachers and students have already accomplished so much in their time together. Each day brings new opportunities for our educators to make a difference in a child's life, and I am proud of the way our dedicated staff strive to make the most of each and every day.

Fort Bend ISD is seeking business and community members, and parents of students enrolled in FBISD schools to volunteer to serve on its Academic Advisory Council (AAC) for the 2016-2017 school year. The Council works with the Board of Trustees or its designee in establishing and reviewing the District's educational goals, objectives and major district-wide classroom instructional programs.

Fort Bend ISD is fortunate to partner with area businesses and community organizations in support of students and staff each year. To help students and their families with back-to-school needs, several of the District's partners donated school supplies to Shared Dreams.

Fort Bend ISD invites the community to come out and enjoy two evenings of competitive marching exhibitions presented by all 11 FBISD high school marching bands during its annual Band Night Events, October 11 and 12. The events will be held at Mercer Stadium (16403 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land 77479), beginning at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free and concessions will be sold. Open seating will be available on the home side only.
