Parents can receive school communications through Skylert

To improve communication with parents, Fort Bend ISD has implemented the Skylert notification system that allows the delivery of emergency, attendance and general information messages. Parents can choose to receive communications by phone, email, text message or a combination of each.
September
2016 Holidays

All Fort Bend ISD schools and offices will be closed on Monday, September 5 for the Labor Day Holiday, and on Friday, September 23 for Fort Bend County Fair Day.
Meal Application

All FBISD families that request Free and Reduced School Meal services must complete a new application.
Applications must be submitted and approved by October 6 to avoid lapse in benefits
Open House Dates - Middle and Elementary

The Fall 2016 Open House dates for middle and elementary schools will take place
 
September 8 for Middle School
 
September 14 and 15 for Elementary

There may be some adjustments to this schedule. Please check with your child's school for exact dates and times.

Fort Bend ISD breaks ground for Elementary 50 in Grand Vista Community
  
 
Construction crews are hard at work at the site of Fort Bend ISD's Elementary School 50, which will support student growth in the west side of the District. The elementary project is included in the 2014 Bond Program and was designed in accordance with the FBISD Board-approved Elementary Education Specifications to include 21st Century Learning concepts to encourage collaboration and inspire learning.
Fort Bend ISD moves dirt on two new schools in Sienna Plantation community
  
 
 
Fort Bend ISD Board members and District administrators recently joined business and community leaders in breaking ground at two future school sites - Middle School 15 and Elementary 48 (in the Sienna Plantation Community). The elementary project is part of the 2014 Bond Program, and the middle school is the final major construction project of the 2007 Bond Program. 
Community members invited to submit names for FBISD's newest schools and facilities
  
Fort Bend ISD is seeking community suggestions for the naming of six new campuses and facilities through the use of an online form. The deadline to submit names is Friday, September 30, 2016. 
Following are the facilities that are available for naming suggestions:
  • Elementary School 48 - located in the Sienna Plantation community
  • Elementary School 49 - located in the Harvest Green community
  • Elementary School 50 - located in the Grand Vista community
  • Middle School 15 - located in the Sienna Plantation community
  • Career and Technical Education Center - located in the Telfair community
  • Agriculture Barn - located near Travis High School
Fort Bend ISD names Oscar Perez, Jr. Interim Chief of Operations
  
Fort Bend ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Charles Dupre announced that Oscar Perez, Jr. will serve as Fort Bend ISD's Interim Chief of Operations (COO). Perez recently held the position of Executive Director of Design and Construction with FBISD, serving as a liaison for the 2014 Bond Program. He also managed the planning, estimating and designing for construction and renovation of FBISD facilities.

Called Meeting for Public Hearing, 5:30 p.m.

Called Meeting and Agenda Review, 6:00 p.m.

Regular Board Meeting, 6:00 p.m.

 

Sept. 26

Public Hearing to consider petition, 6:00 p.m.

Summer Commencement Program marks end of journey for some
  
Fort Bend ISD joined the parents and family members of 107 students in celebrating the graduates' success at completing their high school journey. Many of the students returned to FBISD to accept their diplomas at the District's Summer Commencement Program, held Wednesday, August 31 at Elkins High School.
 
GT testing and identification referrals accepted through Sept. 30
  
Fort Bend ISD parents who would like to refer their children (in grades K-11) for Gifted and Talented (GT)  testing and identification are asked to complete the online Parent Referral Form, which can be accessed in Family Access. The 2016 Fall GT Testing Referral window will be open until Friday, September 30.
Volunteers needed to serve as FBISD mentors
  
Parents and community members who have a desire to help equip and inspire students to be successful, in school and in life, are invited to join Fort Bend ISD's Mentor Team. Volunteer mentors devote 30-45 minutes a week to students at all levels to help them reach their full potential.
