Texas Sales Tax Holiday/Tax-Free Weekend, August 5-7
Texas shoppers get a break from state and local sales taxes on August 5, 6 and 7 - the state's annual tax holiday. As in previous years, the law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100 from sales and use taxes. Given the few exemptions, families can take advantage of the Sales Tax Holiday and purchase back-to-school items for their children, with a possible savings of $8 for every $100 they spend.
