Fort Bend ISD focuses on new school year while reflecting on past Points of Pride
In a few more weeks, Fort Bend ISD will welcome the nearly 74,000 students, who will fill our classrooms while eager to learn new and exciting things. The anticipation of welcoming students back to school helps renew our commitment to ensuring that our students are well equipped to master new skills and compete in our global society.
 
While we look forward to celebrating the many accomplishments that returning FBISD students will achieve, we would like to share a few of our "Points of Pride" that were celebrated during the 2015-16 school year - those that reflect who we are, where we've been and the direction in which we're headed.

Fort Bend ISD Adopts 2016-17 Budget
During a regularly scheduled meeting on June 20, 2016, the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees adopted a $592,626,411 general operational budget for the 2016-17 school year. The 2016-17 budget is based on a projected enrollment of 74,111 students, which is an increase of 1,033 students from the 2015-16 school year.  Learn more ...

New Dismissal Times for the 2016-17 School Year adds 15 minutes to end of school day for all students
After further review and consideration, FBISD will add 15 minutes to the end of the instructional day for the 2016-17 school year for all grade levels. The start/stop times are as follows: 
  • High School - 7:30 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.
  • Elementary School - 8:10 a.m. - 3:25 p.m.
  • Middle School - 8:55 a.m. - 4:10 p.m.
Upcoming Board of Trustees Meetings
The July and August 2016 FBISD Board of Trustees meetings will be held on the following dates:
  • Aug. 8 - Called Meeting/Agenda Review, 6:00 p.m.
  • Aug. 15 - Regular Board Meeting, 6:00 p.m.

Summer Graduation 2016
FBISD will host its Summer 2016 Commencement Ceremony on Tuesday, August 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Elkins High School's Auditorium (7007 Knights Court, Missouri City, TX 77459). Contact your student's high school for more details.

Texas Sales Tax Holiday/Tax-Free Weekend, Aug. 5-7
Texas shoppers get a break from state and local sales taxes on August 5, 6 and 7 - the state's annual tax holiday. As in previous years, the law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100 from sales and use taxes. Learn more ...
