Twenty-one FBISD seniors receive Indo-American Charity Foundation Scholarships
The Indo-American Charity Foundation (IACF) awarded $30,000 in scholarships to 30 deserving high school graduates, including 21 Fort Bend ISD seniors representing nine high schools. The scholarship recipients were selected based on their grade point average, SAT/ACT scores, personal essays, letters of recommendation and financial need. This is the third year that IACF has supported FBISD students.
Fort Bend ISD Adopts 2016-17 Budget
During a regularly scheduled meeting on June 20, 2016, the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees adopted a $592,626,411 general operational budget for the 2016-17 school year. The 2016-17 budget is based on a projected enrollment of 74,111 students, which is an increase of 1,033 students from the 2015-16 school year.
Fort Bend ISD approves construction contracts for two additional schools
The construction of Fort Bend ISD's 48th elementary school and 15th middle school will soon begin in the southeast area of the fast-growing District. During a board workshop and called meeting on June 6, 2016, the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees approved construction service agreements for both schools, which will be located in the Sienna Plantation community.
FBISD Board of Trustees approves Dr. Audra Ude as Director of Student Leadership
Fort Bend ISD welcomes Dr. Audra Ude as the District's Director of Student Leadership. The FBISD Board of Trustees approved Ude for the position at their Regular Meeting on Monday, June 20.
Upcoming Board of Trustees Meetings
The July and August 2016 FBISD Board of Trustees meetings will be held on the following dates:
  • July 18 - Regular Board Meeting, 6:00 p.m.
  • Aug. 8 - Called Meeting and Agenda Review, 6:00 p.m.
  • Aug. 15 - Regular Board Meeting, 6:00 p.m.

Sullivan Elementary welcomes students for playdate
Sullivan Elementary School hosted its first Summer Playdate on June 16 to welcome students who will attend the new school in the fall. Hosted by the school's PTA, the event welcomed nearly 500 students and their families.
