Fort Bend ISD schools and offices will be closed on Monday, May 30 for the Memorial Day Holiday. The District will resume regular business hours and students will return to school on Tuesday, May 31.

FBISD's 2016 Graduation Ceremonies are June 3 and 4
Fort Bend ISD's graduating class of 2016 will fill the Toyota Center on June 3 and 4 for graduation ceremonies, marking the end of their high school journey. New Start/Stop Times for the 2016-17 School Year Adds 15 Minutes to End of School Day for all Students
After further review and consideration, Fort Bend ISD will add 15 minutes to the end of the instructional school day for the 2016-17 school year for all grade levels. Initially, the District planned to increase the school day by 20 minutes, with instruction beginning five minutes earlier and ending fifteen minutes later at the elementary and middle school levels, and adding 20 minutes to the end of the day at the high school level.

Sugar Land Rotary honors FBISD Teachers of the Year
Each year, the Sugar Land Rotary Club honors outstanding Fort Bend ISD teachers during its Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. The event gives the Rotarians an opportunity to celebrate teachers' achievements and thank them for their role in public education.

FBISD to host Public Meeting to Discuss Budget, Proposed Tax Rate, June 6
The Fort Bend ISD community is invited to attend a public meeting to discuss the District's budget that will determine the tax rate. The meeting will be held Monday, June 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the FBISD Administration Building Board Room (16431 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land 77479).

The scheduled June 2016 FBISD Board of Trustees meetings will be held on the following dates:
- June 6 - Public Budget Hearing, 5:30 p.m.
- June 6 - Called Meeting and Agenda Review Workshop, 6:00 p.m.
- June 20 - Regular Board Meeting, 6:00 p.m.

Construction Begins this Summer on Two Elementary Schools to Support Growth of District's West Side
After an extensive period of planning, the 2014 Bond Program is moving ahead and dirt will be moving soon on new construction projects. The FBISD Board of Trustees approved construction service agreements for Elementary Schools 49 and 50 during the May board meeting. Both scheduled to open in August 2017, the new campuses are part of the 2014 Bond Program and will support student growth taking place on the west side of the District.

Marshall High School wins back-to-back 5A Boys Track and Field State Championship
The Marshall High School "Buffs" Boys Track and Field Team is definitely doing something right, having won the Class 5A UIL Boys Track and Field State Championship title for the second consecutive year. After claiming the 2015 and 2016 championship titles, the team is already preparing for a "three-peat" performance at the 2017 state meet.

Students from 24 Fort Bend ISD campuses compete in Digital Learning's annual Robotics Competition
Fort Bend ISD's Digital Learning Department hosted its annual Robotics Competition to showcase students' skills in robotics design and computer programming. The contest invited students to design, prototype, build and program robots for competition.

FBISD to Host Meeting for Nonprofit Private and Home-School Providers
Fort Bend ISD's Special Programs and Special Education Departments are co-hosting a community meeting to discuss nonprofit private school participation in federally-funded educational services provided by the District. The meeting will be held on June 14, from 2:00-3:00 p.m., in the FBISD Administration Building Board Room (16431 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land 77479).

Houston Symphony presents free Community Concert at Rodgers Auditorium, Wednesday, June 8
This summer, the Houston Symphony is bringing music right to your front door with their free Summer Community Concert Series. The Fort Bend ISD and surrounding communities are invited to attend the June 8 community concert, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Dulles High School's Rodgers Auditorium (550 Dulles Avenue, Sugar Land, 77478).
