Stephanie Houston named Principal of Ridgemont Elementary School
Stephanie Houston has been named the principal of Ridgemont Elementary School beginning in the 2016-17 school year. Ridgemont Elementary was recently selected as a Fort Bend ISD EDGE campus, which includes a new instructional model of learning and support for staff and students.

- May 9 - Called Meeting and Agenda Review Workshop, 6:00 p.m.
- May 16 - Regular Board Meeting, 6:00 p.m.
- May 16 - Called Meeting for Canvass of Election Results and Election Board Officers, 8:00 p.m.

Prekindergarten Registration Event for 2016-2017 is
May 13, 19, 20
The Prekindergarten registration process is underway for the 2016-2017 school year. Through May 11, parents of four-year-old children who are eligible for prekindergarten can complete the first step in the enrollment process using the new student online registration system. After completing the online registration application, parents must then contact their FBISD Early Childhood office to make an appointment to complete the application process at a centralized registration event on May 13, 19 or 20.

FBISD Film Festival showcases creative talents of future filmmakers
Fort Bend ISD rolled out the "red carpet" to honor student winners of the first FBISD Film Festival. Held in the Clements High School auditorium, the event was reminiscent of the Academy Awards ceremony with "red carpet" interviews, photo opportunities, video clips of entries, lots of cheers and applause from supportive fans, and a greeting from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Charles Dupre broadcast on the big screen.

Fort Bend ISD Global Initiative to host informational meeting, May 18
The Fort Bend ISD Global Initiative invites high school students (currently in grades 9-11) and their parents/guardians to attend an informational meeting regarding the 2017 China Exchange Trip, which is scheduled for January 2-14, 2017. The meeting will be held May 18, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the FBISD Administration Building Board Room (16431 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land 77479).

Student Voices Wanted for Advisory Group
Fort Bend ISD invites high school students to join the Student Voice Advisory Network (VOICES). This network comprises a group of dedicated students from each of the District's 12 high schools. Membership is considered an honor within the District as students will bring their own thoughts and insights directly to the Superintendent, Board of Trustees and other FBISD leaders.

FBISD students invited to explore Alley Play Makers Summer Camp
Fort Bend ISD has partnered with Alley Theatre to give students in grades K-8 an opportunity to explore their favorite science concept by participating in a theatre summer camp. The two-week theatre camp will be offered June 6-12 at Quail Valley Elementary School.

Kempner High School hosts largest gathering of Student Council leaders in U.S.
Fort Bend ISD high school delegates were among nearly 5,000 students and advisors from more than 400 Texas Student Councils to attend the Texas Association of Student Councils' Annual Conference, hosted by Kempner High School's Student Council members.

Elkins High School AFJROTC CyberPatriot Team competes in National Youth Cyber Defense Competition
The Elkins High School Air Force JROTC CyberPatriot Team recently competed in the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, joining more than 3,300 teams across the nation in the STEM-related competition. The event challenges teams of two to six students to find and resolve cybersecurity vulnerabilities in simulated environments.

Quail Valley Elementary to host a Global Leadership Night
On Tuesday, May 17, Quail Valley Elementary School will host a Global Leadership Night, from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. on campus (3500 Quail Village Drive, Missouri City 77459). The event will give guests an opportunity to observe how student leadership is impacting learning at the school.
