Fort Bend ISD to host 2016 Decision Day, April 29
To celebrate the academic achievements and post-secondary commitments of the Class of 2016, Fort Bend ISD's College & Career Readiness team will host a District-wide Decision Day event on Friday, April 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Mercer Stadium (16403 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land 77479). All FBISD high school seniors who have been accepted and made a decision to attend a two-year, four-year, military, tech or trade school will take part in the event. Parents/guardians of the honored students, as well as media are invited to attend.

The April 2016 FBISD Board of Trustees meetings will be held on the following dates:
- April 11 - Called Meeting and Agenda Review Workshop, 6:00 p.m.
- April 18 - Regular Board Meeting, 6:00 p.m.

Dulles High School welcomes Legislative Assistant for tour
Claire Sanderson, Legislative Assistant to Texas Senator John Cornyn, joined FBISD Board members and administrators on a tour of Dulles High School to see "first hand" how students are preparing for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) learning.

FBISD students to compete in Area Spelling Bee, April 2
Two Fort Bend ISD students have advanced to the Houston Public Media Spelling Bee, which will be held Saturday, April 2. Jacqueline Chin from the GT Academy at Quail Valley Middle School, and Leyna Nguyen of Sugar Land Middle School are among more than 50 top spellers from Texas public, private and home schools.

Goodman's star actor Maceo Smedley shines beyond classroom
Goodman Elementary School third-grade student, Maceo Smedley III, is co-starring in Underground, a TV series based on the historical Underground Railroad. Smedley plays a young boy named James, who is a slave during the antebellum period. The show airs on Wednesday nights at 9:00 p.m. central time on WGN.

Hightower High School presents Dreamgirls, April 15 and 18
Hightower High School's Poseidon's Playhouse will present the musical Dreamgirls on April 15 and 18, at 7:00 p.m. in the school's auditorium (3333 Hurricane Lane, Missouri City 77459).

Parents mark your calendars for April 15 Student Holiday
All Fort Bend ISD students will enjoy a Student Holiday on Friday, April 15 while school and District employees take part in a Staff Development Day. All students are expected to return to classes on Monday, April 18 following their three-day weekend.
