Fort Bend ISD introduces EDGE: An innovative, educational support model
EDGE offers unique instructional opportunities for students and staff, includes after-school learning and enrichment opportunities
 
Students at two Fort Bend ISD elementary campuses will benefit from a brand new learning experience, designed to result in academic innovation and improved student achievement. The EDGE (Educators Dedicated to Growing Excellence) instructional model consists of a holistic approach to student instruction and support, while also offering teachers the opportunity to grow professionally and develop as leaders while positively impacting the lives of students. 
 
District holds EDGE information meeting for prospective employees
Both internal and external prospective candidates for 2016-17 positions at two EDGE elementary campuses are invited to attend an informational meeting about the new EDGE instructional model and the hiring process for open positions.  The meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 29, at 5:00 p.m. at the Administrative Annex (3119 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugar Land 77479).

Upcoming 2016 FBISD Board of Trustees meetings will be held on the following dates:
  • March 28 - Regular Board Meeting, 6:00 p.m.
  • April 11 - Called Meeting and Agenda Review Workshop, 6:00 p.m.
  • April 18 - Regular Board Meeting, 6:00 p.m.

FBISD to host Small Business Enterprise Workshop, March 30
Fort Bend ISD invites local small business representatives to attend a Small Business Enterprise (SBE) Workshop on March 30. The event will be held at FBISD's Purchasing and Facilities Management Offices (555 Julie Rivers Dr., Sugar Land 77478), from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

District continues celebration of Youth Art Month
Fort Bend ISD is proud to recognize talented student artists during Youth Art Month. The celebration gives school districts an opportunity to promote art and art education for K-12 students, while encouraging community support of quality school art programs.
Houston Texans honors Austin High School teacher
Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing helped recognize 10 winning teachers at the Stars in the Classroom luncheon. Among the honorees was Carolyn Vandiver, orchestra teacher at Austin High School.
FBISD students earn more than 480 awards in VASE 4S
Congratulations to the Fort Bend ISD high school students who competed at the 2016 VASE 4S, the UIL Regional and Area Visual Arts Scholastic event, earning more than 480 regional and area awards. Hosted by FBISD, the event welcomed students from 13 school districts across the state who entered more than 1,300 pieces of art.

Free event helps students see, paves way for success
Fort Bend ISD elementary school students were among students throughout the city to receive free eye exams and eyeglasses during the See to Succeed outreach event held at the West-End Clinic in Houston.
Willowridge Eagles named winners in Algebra Quiz Bowl
Willowridge High School students are celebrating a victory in academic competition. The school's eight-member Algebra 1 team was named winner of the high school level of Fort Bend ISD's 8th Annual Algebra 1 Quiz Bowl.
Sugar Land Middle School wins One-Act Play Contest
Fort Bend ISD continues to celebrate Fine Arts throughout March and is proud to highlight our middle school theatre program and students' success at this year's One-Act Play Festival.
Colony Meadows Elementary to celebrate Silver Anniversary, April 1
Join Colony Meadows Elementary School in celebrating its silver anniversary with "A Night to Remember" on Friday, April 1, from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at Sweetwater Country Club (4400 Palm Royale Blvd., Sugar Land 77479). The event will include a seated dinner, dancing and a live and silent auction. The adult-only event will benefit future programs and activities for the school and students. Tickets are on sale at www.cmepto.org.
FBISD closed for Good Friday Holiday, March 25
Fort Bend ISD schools and offices will be closed on March 25 for the Good Friday Holiday. The District will resume regular hours, and all students will return to school on Monday, March 28.
