An update on EDGE and the 2016-17 Bell Schedule
A message to the community from Dr. Charles Dupre

At the District level, we have been busy this week, following Monday's Board action to authorize new positions and stipends for the implementation of the EDGE pilot at two elementary schools in 2016-17. We believe this comprehensive instructional model will positively impact the lives of students at Briargate Elementary and Ridgemont Elementary, while giving our teachers the support they need to grow professionally. To learn more about this innovative approach, please read this news release and visit the EDGE webpage at www.fortbendisd.com/EDGE.

New Start/Stop Times for the 2016-17 School Year
school house(1) In January 2016, the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2016-17 District calendar that included 176 days of instruction and an additional 20 minutes of daily instruction at all levels. This calendar was developed with consideration of rules written by the Texas Education Agency to support implementation of House Bill 2610, which defines the minimal amount of student instruction by minutes, rather than days.
