Building Trust and Transparency: FBISD is the Foundation of our Community
A message to the community from Dr. Charles Dupre
This week is Texas Public Schools Week - a week set aside to celebrate all of the great things that are taking place in Texas schools and, especially, Fort Bend ISD! Earlier this week, I read a quote from the 2015 National Teacher of the Year. She said, "A schoolhouse is a story to a community that we have a future." I believe that and know you do, too. Public schools are the foundation of our communities...and we take our responsibility very seriously. Education ensures our future, and our daily mission is to inspire and equip our students to pursue futures beyond what they can imagine. Please join us in celebrating student achievement - in the classroom, on the stage, in the band hall, on the field, in the computer lab, and everywhere our students succeed! This is also a chance for us to thank our teachers, administrators and staff for their dedication to Fort Bend ISD.
On that note, I'm thrilled to let you know that one of our teachers was notified late last week that she is in the running for a statewide award! Michelle Nelson-Archer, an algebra teacher at Sartartia Middle School, has been named a finalist for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards. Michelle was our 2014 Secondary Teacher of the Year and is an excellent representative for our District. We are so excited for her and appreciate her commitment to her students!
On Tuesday, March 1, parents will be receiving an email about participating in a Campus Climate Survey that the District conducts annually. The survey is conducted with the assistance of independent technology and communications firm K12 Insight. We want the feedback to ensure that our programs and services are meeting the needs of students and their families. Surveys help us identify areas of concern and create a foundation for continuous improvement. Parents, please help us improve and meet any challenges our schools face by taking the confidential survey, and trust that results are delivered collectively (no individual data or identifying information is used in the reports).
Overall, last year's climate survey results showed that the climate in Fort Bend ISD is stable and improving, which is a good thing - but we want to do even better. We know that we must continuously seek ways to improve, and our parents' participation in the process is essential. Results will be analyzed and then shared with parents and campuses toward the end of the school year after the survey closes on March 31.
Parents, thank you in advance for your participation and support!
