Fort Bend ISD honored its seven-member Board of Trustees at the January 19 Regular Board Meeting, recognizing Board Members for their strong and unyielding commitment to the District's students, staff, parents and community. Congratulations FBISD 2016 Campus Teachers of the Year
Fort Bend ISD is proud to announce the names of the 2016 FBISD Campus Teachers of the Year. Voted on by their peers, these 75 individuals represent the best in education, based on their ability to inspire, equip and prepare students for futures beyond what they can imagine. Each of the honorees will go on to compete for the title of District Elementary or Secondary Teacher of the Year Finalist.

Fort Bend ISD approves 2016-17 District Calendar
During a regular board meeting on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees approved a 2016-17 District Calendar that includes 176 days of instruction and an additional 20 daily instructional minutes at all levels. Read more ...

February Board of Trustees Meetings
The February 2016 FBISD Board of Trustees meetings will be held on the following dates:
  • February 8 - Public Hearing on the Texas Academic Performance Report, 5:30 p.m.
  • February 8 - Called Meeting and Agenda Review Workshop, 6:00 p.m.
  • February 15 - Regular Board Meeting, 6:00 p.m.

FBISD to host TAPR Public Meeting, Feb. 8
Fort Bend ISD will host a public meeting to share the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) with the Board of Trustees on February 8, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the FBISD Administration Building (16431 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land 77479).

Kennedy Center selects Fort Bend ISD and the Alley Theatre for its Partners in Education Program
In April 2016, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will host the Annual Partners in Education Institute, and Fort Bend ISD will be among the groups to participate. FBISD, in partnership with the Alley Theatre, is among 10 teams of school systems and arts organizations from across the nation to be selected to participate in the program this year.
Fort Bend ISD to host District Spelling Bee, Feb. 6
Fort Bend ISD will host its District Spelling Bee on Saturday, February 6, from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 12:00 p.m. in Fort Settlement Middle School's Cafetorium (5440 Elkins Road, Sugar Land 77479).

FBISD to observe Digital Learning Day, Feb. 17
Fort Bend ISD will celebrate Digital Learning Day on February 17 to recognize the success of technology integration in the classroom. Digital Learning Day promotes the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to learn in a robust digital environment every day with the goal of success in college and career.
Color Guard Preview to be held Feb. 17
Fort Bend ISD's Color Guard organizations representing nine of the District's high schools will take part in the District's second annual Color Guard Preview on Wednesday, February 17. The event will showcase the exhibition performance of each group.
Community invited to Annual Dance Showcase, Feb. 29
Fort Bend ISD's Department of Fine Arts will present the District's Annual Dance Showcase on Monday, February 29, and the community is invited to attend. The Dance Showcase highlights the originally choreographed works of students in the dance programs at each FBISD high school. The event will be held at Wheeler Field House (16403 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land 77479), beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Kickstart Kids honored at Dulles Middle School's Winter Belt Ceremony
More than 160 students participating in the Kickstart Kids program were honored for their accomplishments in karate during Dulles Middle School's Kickstart Kids Winter Belt Ceremony. The event gave the students an opportunity to demonstrate their karate skills for their families and other supporters, and receive belt promotions based on their skill level.
Foundation plants seeds of environmental stewardship
If planted early, even the smallest seed can make a big difference. Imagine how better off people would be if their bad habits were addressed at an early age. Fort Bend ISD's Rosa Parks Elementary School students who participated in The Honey Brown Hope Foundation's "We Love America Healthy, Clean and Green" calendar photo and essay contests don't have to imagine because they have replaced their previous environmental habits with positive seeds of environmental appreciation.
