Fort Bend ISD joins in world-wide literacy initiative,
Read Across the Globe - Volunteer spots still available
 
On October 19, Fort Bend ISD is joining forces with school districts across the U.S. and the world in the Read Across the Globe, an initiative of Points of Light with support from The Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation and Volunteer Houston to bring the power of volunteers together to impact literacy in our community.
  
Our Commitment to You
 
Today our schools dismissed early so that the afternoon could be devoted to parent and teacher conferences at our elementary schools. This is followed by a student holiday on Monday. Though students will have the day off, employees will spend the day participating in staff development.

October Board of Trustees Meetings

The October FBISD Board of Trustees meetings will be held on the following dates:

  • October 12 - Called Meeting / Agenda Review Workshop, 6:00 p.m.

  • October 19 - Regular Board Meeting, 6:00 p.m.

Fort Bend ISD's Annual Drug Take Back a Success!
Thanks to widespread community participation in the District's annual Drug Take Back event, Fort Bend ISD collected more than 25 bags of medication (weighing approximately 800 pounds) from 178 community members.

FBISD to host Academy Preview Events, October 13 and October 21
Fort Bend ISD will host two Academy Preview events to give eighth-grade students and their families an opportunity to learn about the District's high school academy programs and the application process for the 2016-17 school year. The events will take place on Tuesday, October 13 at Austin High School and on Wednesday, October 21 at Marshall High School from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. each night. 
FBISD presents its Middle School Theatre One-Act Play Festivals, Nov. 7
theater The community is invited to come out and enjoy Fort Bend ISD theatre students as they compete in the annual Middle School Theatre One-Act Play Festivals on Saturday, November 7. Hosted by the District's Fine Arts Department, the festivals will feature 40-minute theatrical performances, in both Zone A and Zone B, by students representing each of the District's 14 middle schools.
Lexington Creek Elementary students show "B.I.G. Love"
When community children are in need of support, Lexington Creek Elementary School students are quick to lend a hand. Lexington Creek students in all grade levels recently participated in the B.I.G. Love Fun Run/Walk and raised nearly $5,000 to support cancer kids.

Settlers Way Elementary supports "Pennies for Patients"
Settlers Way Elementary School has a longstanding commitment to supporting cancer research efforts, and this year is no different. Collectively, students and staff raised more than $4,550 to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through "Pennies for Patients."

Celebration gearing up for Quail Valley Elementary School's 40th Anniversary
On Wednesday, October 28, the Quail Valley Elementary School Eagles will celebrate "40 years of Learning and Discovery" as they host their anniversary event. All current and former QVE Eagles are invited to attend.

Community invited to join in Missouri City Middle School's 40th Anniversary Celebration
Missouri City Middle School invites the community to join students and staff in celebrating "40 Years of Inspired Education and Cougar Spirit," on Saturday, October 24. The anniversary celebration will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., beginning in the school's cafeteria and concluding on the school's football field.

Ridge Point High School Theatre presents fall show, 
"A Piece of My Heart," Oct. 16, 17 and 19
Ridge Point High School's Theatre Department invites the community to come out and enjoy a performance of "A Piece of My Heart," a moving drama about women's involvement in the Vietnam War. Performances will take place on October 16, 17 and 19 in the school's auditorium (500 Waters Lake Blvd., Missouri City 77459).
