2015 Fort Bend ISD Graduation Ceremonies

Fort Bend ISD congratulates all of the graduating high school seniors in the Class of 2015! Graduation is a milestone moment and an exciting time for our seniors and their families. This occasion recognizes the students' hard work and serves as a celebratory send off into their futures. All FBISD graduation ceremonies will be held at the Toyota Center (1510 Polk Street, Houston, TX 77002). The schedule is as follows:

We wish the Houston Rockets the best in the team's playoff games. Even if they are in the finals and ultimately win the National NBA Championship, the Toyota Center does not plan to change any of the 2015 FBISD graduation dates or times at the Toyota Center. Community Meeting on May 20

Fort Bend ISD is fortunate to be part of a community that is willing to engage and collaborate with us as we determine how to best serve our students and their parents, while also supporting our staff members. We cannot accomplish our mission alone. We need to work together to help all of our children succeed.


Helping All Children Succeed

FBISD will host a Community Meeting on Wednesday, May 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Bush High School (6707 FM 1464, Richmond, TX 77407) to address the challenges our District faces and ways we can work together to help all children succeed and close achievement gaps by:

  • Improving attendance to reduce truancy, and

  • Engaging our students in learning to improve student disciplinary issues

Upcoming Board of Trustees Meetings

The upcoming FBISD Board of Trustees meetings will be held on the following dates:

  • May 18 - Called Meeting for Canvass of Election Returns, 5:45 p.m.

  • May 18 - Regular Board Meeting, 6:00 p.m.

  • May 26 - Board Workshop, 6:30 p.m.

  • June 1 - Budget Hearing, 5:30 p.m.; Called Meeting and Agenda Review Workshop, 6:00 p.m.

  • June 15 - Regular Board Meeting, 6:00 p.m.

  • July 21 - Regular Board Meeting, 6:00 p.m.

Notice of Public Meeting to Discuss Budget and
Proposed Tax Rate

Fort Bend ISD will hold a public meeting on June 1 at 5:30 p.m. in the FBISD Administration Board Room (16431 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land 77479) to discuss the school district's 2015-2016 budget that will determine the tax rate that will be adopted. The public is invited to take part in the discussion.

FBISD to Host Meeting for Non-Profit and
Home-School Providers

Fort Bend ISD's Special Programs Department will hold a meeting to discuss non-profit private school participation in federally-funded educational services in the District. The meeting will be held on May 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the FBISD Administration Building Board Room (16431 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land, 77479). All non-profit private school or home-school providers that serve students residing in FBISD are invited to attend. For more information, please call (281) 634-1354.

Fort Bend Education Foundation News

The community is invited to join the Fort Bend Education Foundation in Take Me Out Tuesdays on May 19 and 26 at Churrascos. Mention the Education Foundation or present the event flyer and receive 15 percent off your meal.

 

Honor a teacher with a Tribute Fund donation in their name. Simply fill in the Tribute Form and make a tax-deductible donation to the Fort Bend Education Foundation. The Foundation will send a card to the recipient to acknowledge your contribution in that person's name.

Five FBISD Students receive 2015 TAGT Scholarships

The Texas Association of Gifted and Talented (TAGT) awarded scholarships to five Fort Bend ISD students. Four of the students are among 32 students from across the state selected as 2015 TAGT Summer Scholars, and one is the recipient of the Laura Allard Future Vision Scholarship.

Fort Settlement Middle School Science Bowl Team named National Science Bowl Champions

Following a rigorous two-day competition in Washington, D.C., the Fort Settlement Middle School science bowl team captured the title of National Science Bowl Champions after defeating a Maryland team.

Arizona Fleming Elementary celebrates 20th Anniversary

Join the students and staff at Arizona Fleming Elementary School in celebrating the school's 20th anniversary. A celebration will be held on May 21 on the campus (14850 Bissonnet, Houston, TX 77083), from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m.
