Join us at Ikon Science HQ (SW London) on Friday 30th of September for a Geomechanics Lunch & Learn, as our geomechanics expert, Dr Scotty Mildren is in town! Scotty will be exploring the intersection between geophysics and geomechanics - you can come to our offices, or listen via WebEx.
Inverting for Geomechanics
How is geomechanics related to quantitative interpretation?
How can geomechanics enhance reservoir characterisation?
What constitutes a geomechanical model and how are they built?
What is the difference between 1D, 3D, 4D, static and dynamic geomechanical models, and how do we make a choice?
Where can the integration of geomechanics and geophysics take us?
--- The Afternoon's Schedule ---
From 1:15pm+ we'll be serving a buffet lunch
Grab a bite to eat, say hello to your peers, pick up a notepad and pen, then get settled for the afternoon.
1:45pm: Inverting for Geomechanics with Dr Scotty Mildren
Elastic properties are a key control on stress distribution. This presentation will demonstrate the link between geophysical properties and stresses, underline the importance that quantitative interpretation and rock physics can play in building geomechanical models and how geomechanics may enhance traditional reservoir characterisation.
2:45pm: Refreshment break
3pm: An Integrated QI-Geomechanics RokDoc workflow - Scotty Mildren & Fergus Sinclair Smith
A live RokDoc demonstration to outline a multi-disciplinary workflow that builds a geomechancial model from a limited dataset and propagates those analyses to a new well location to predict geomechanical performance pre-drill.
This session will touch on many of the aspects discussed in the earlier presentation while showcasing geomechanics and image log functionality in the context of the broader RokDoc tool set.
We plan to finish the afternoon at about 4pm. You are very welcome to join us in a nearby pub for the discussions to continue.
