ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Dr Jorg Herwanger
Principal Geoscientist - Special Projects
Jorg is an expert in cross-disciplinary sub-surface workflows, and has made significant contributions to reservoir seismic studies, reservoir geomechanics and rock-physics. He is active in demonstrating the value of solid science and clear communication in sub-surface workflows and is well known through his global EAGE lecture tour on "Seismic Geomechanics".

After graduating with a Degree in Geophysics from TU Clausthal in Germany and a PhD in Geology and Geophysics from Imperial College London, he spent 10 years with Schlumberger in the UK and the U.S.A contributing to Research and Engineering (R&E), and the commercialization of new methods emanating from R&E both in both consulting services and software solutions. His work over this time focussed on various aspects of building, calibration and application of 3D geomechanical models maximising the use of 3D and 4D seismic data and models.

Jorg is now heading the Special Projects group of Ikon Science.

Registration is required for this event and spaces are limited, so please ensure you register early.  Spaces are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
We would like to invite you to join us at Ikon HQ for a buffet lunch, followed by an afternoon of 2 talks by Dr Jorg Herwanger covering Ikon's extensive geomechanics capabilities.

During the afternoon, Jorg will be discussing how to best deal with Field Development Stresses.

If you can't join us at our office this time, you can watch via WebEx,

AFTERNOON AGENDA - FRIDAY 24TH APRIL

Buffet lunch served from 1pm

Get to know your peers, grab a bite to eat and collect a notebook and pen before the activities begin.

13:45
Geomechanical controls on structural permeability and fracture propagation during hydraulic stimulation
This presentation looks at the inter-relationship between elastic properties, rock strength, pore pressure and stress state with the aid of real world examples influencing fluid flow.

14:30 - Refreshment Break

14:45

1D - 3D GeoMechanics
From wellbore and fault stability to seafloor subsidence, geomechanics impacts decisions at all scales. Some geomechanical issues can be addressed using analytical equations and analysis in 1D, other questions lend themselves to a 3D or 4D geomechanical simulations. This presentation addresses Ikon Science's geomechanics capabilities from the 1D to 3D to 4D, and presents our thought how to combine rock physics, geopressure and stress determination into integrated workflows.

Each section will be followed by Q & A
We plan to finish the afternoon at about 3:30pm.

Afterwards
You are very welcome to join us in a nearby pub for discussions to continue.

We hope that you can join us at our offices for the afternoon discussions from 1pm at our offices in Teddington, SW London. Registration is required for this event, as spaces are limited, so to secure your spot, please click on the green 'Register a space for me!' link above.

This event is being hosted for our clients & network at oil and gas companies in Europe. Competing service companies are requested not to register for the event, Ikon reserves the right to refuse admission.

Please contact me if you have any questions about the event or how to register.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely,

Lauren King
