My pick for u-pick: Newton's Blueberry Farm

Summer flower fields at King's Farm Market on Edisto Island.
Dear Friends,

It's been an exciting few weeks at William Means
--the company recently surpassed the $100,000,000 sales mark for 2016 (wowza!), and as of mid-June, we were #1 among Charleston companies for highest average transaction price ($945k). Congrats to my fellow agents and thank you to our tireless brokers and office staff.

That said... I am hoping my summer won't be all business! Summer is a wonderful time of year to get out of town--even just to a local retreat like my favorite, Edisto Island. I see some fresh farm veggies and a boat ride in my future...

Best wishes for a happy summer,

The historic Laurens-Rutledge house offers grand formal space enhanced by 18th and 19th century details including: irish crystal chandeliers, nine fireplaces, original heart pine floors, 13 foot ceilings and noteworthy triple hung windows. This was the home of John Rutledge, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Future use could continue as a luxury inn, however the existing floor plan offers the option to easily convert the mansion back to a private residence. Still has the original carriage house. The entire property was thoughtfully resorted in 1998-1999.
A special congratulations to William Means agent, Mona Kalinsky, who represented the Seller in this deal.

5 East Bay
Sold price: $6,500,000
Sold date: June 21, 2016
Total days on market: 1,017

The 1848 John Ravenel House: Main house with 7 bedrooms, carriage house with 3 bedrooms, double lot, garden and pool. Charleston landmark stands in what may be the most elegant row of waterfront houses in the country. The view is spectacular: the bridge to the northeast, Fort Johnson to the southeast, and in between there is Castle Pinckney, Fort Sumter, Sullivans Island and the Atlantic Ocean. With grand piazzas and a drawing room that extends across the full front of the house, there is something so special about this stately house and the changing light of Charleston Harbor that is nothing less than magical. In 170 years of history just three families have lived here, preserving a remarkably original interior and an exterior restored after Civil War shelling and after the 1886 earthquake.

37 Meeting Street
Sold price: $7,510,000
Sold date: June 14, 2016

Built in 1760, the James Simmons House at 37 Meeting Street has remained a prominent icon throughout Charleston's history; it witnessed the Revolutionary War's British Occupation and served as Confederate headquarters under General Pierre Beauregard during the Civil War. Other notable owners include Otis Mills of the famed Mills House, and Governor Robert Gibbes. Today, it is one of the finest restored homes in Charleston, boasting a private-gated entrance off Weims Court, a concealed landscaped garden, graciously sized rooms, updated kitchen and baths, a beautiful wine cellar, and an abundance of handcrafted historic details (from the renowned wrought-iron gate to the beautiful plaster-work). All of this rests on a large, double-lot property covering approximately one-third of an acre.
A special congratulations to William Means agent, Lyles Geer, who represented the Seller in this deal.
