Dear Friends,
This monthly newsletter is my chance to shine a light on all the wonderful parts about living in Charleston, showing some of the reasons why Charleston is consistently in the news as "Best City" in the United States. But in the last few weeks, Charleston has been in the news for a very different reason.
In the wake of the tragic and hate-fueled event that took place at the historic Emmanuel AME Church on Calhoun Street on June 17, 2015, I am taking a break from my typical newsletter to honor those whose lives were so senselessly cut short and to pay my respect to their families and loved ones. Charleston mourns the loss of Rev. Clementa Pinckney, Tywanza Sanders, Rev. Sharonda Singleton, Cynthia Hurd, Rev. DePayne Middleton-Doctor, Ethel Lance, Susie Jackson, Myra Thompson, and Rev. Daniel Simmons, Sr.
This tragedy has shown how people can come together in love, unity, and support, yet it also shows that we, as a community and as a nation, have a long way to go. Charleston may already be considered the "Best," but it is my hope that out of these ashes, Charleston may continue to become even "Better."
Sincerely, Leize Gaillard William Means Real Estate leize@williammeans.com
