The Synod Resource Center is the recipient
of some interesting new materials that you might just like to look at.
We recently received a copy of a wonderful book by Chris Neufeld-Erdman called A Table for All: How I Came to Understand that the Gospel Means Full Inclusion of Gays and Lesbians. Chris Neufeld-Erdman was formerly the pastor at University Presbyterian Church in Fresno and is currently the pastor of Davis Community Church, in Davis, CA. This book includes a Study Guide for personal reflection and group exploration.
Our donor of this books says: "I just finished my initial reading of Neufeld-Erdman's book. It is a book that I would recommend for the Resource Center. There is a study guide in the back of the book for all 6 chapters. Neufeld-Erdman, although writing to Presbyterians, builds his apologetics using the Barmen Declaration of Faith which is a Lutheran declaration as well as a Reformed declaration. This book focuses on the acceptance of all at the table.

We have some new women's study materials that were recently donated to the Synod Resource Center. While they are not materials we would normally purchase, they are materials that many women like to use, so I thought I'd share these with you. These are complete studies, including DVD's, Leader Guides and a Participant book. They are by Beth Moore, Jennifer Rothschild, Priscilla Shirer, Margaret Feinberg, Lisa Harper, and/or Karen Kingsbury.
Each study comes highly recommend by our donor, who has used them at her church. I will bring what we have on hand to the WELCA Conference in October, for participants to look through and check out if desired, or you can email Janet to request one or order one through our Online Ordering. Enter the authors name and click search, select the study you'd like to use and order it. Once I receive your online order, I will box up and mail your materials to you.
***As requests come in for new materials, once they are received, you will be the first to know! *** _______________________________________________________________________________________ For some fun, yet deep reading, check out these 2 new additions to the Resource Center:
We now have The Gospel In Disney: Christian Values in the Early Animated Classics by Philip Longfellow Anderson. The author looks at nearly 20 animated Disney classics and uses each as a point of departure for discussion of Christian values.
With a similar approach, Russell W. Dalton's book Faith Journey through Fantasy Lands: A Christian Dialogue with Harry Potter, Star Wars, and The Lord of the Rings, guides the reader through these contemporary fantasy stories and illuminates them with light from the Christian faith journey.
Do some fun reading this fall, and grow in your faith at the same time. |
